reply

A View To A Kill has always been a favorite

reply

Me too! 👍

reply

The best is Goldeneye.

I don't think Garabage was that bad.

reply

I have the CD Single of that, it would make my top ten.

reply

I actually find most Bond themes overblown and few would trouble any of my playlists. A View to a Kill and Skyfall would be the exceptions for me - great tunes both!

reply

I like Adele, I wish she had sung moore 007 songs.

Typo on purpose!

reply

lol

Love your work 😀👍

reply

I mostly lost interest in Bond after Roger Moore retired from the role. The only post-Moore song I am familiar with is License to Kill because I am a fan of Gladys Knight. I like it. So I am only going to rate the Sean Connery, George Lazenby, and Roger Moore.

👍
1. Nancy Sinatra – You Only Live Twice
2. Paul McCartney & Wings – Live and Let Die
3. Duran Duran – A View to a Kill
4. Shirley Bassey - Diamonds Are Forever
5. Matt Monro - From Russia with Love
6. Shirley Bassey - Goldfinger
7. Sheena Easton - For Your Eyes Only
8. Rita Coolidge - All Time High
9. Carly Simon – Nobody Does It Better
10. Shirley Bassey - Moonraker
11. LuLu - The Man with the Golden Gun
12. Byron Lee and the Dragonaires - Kingston Calypso
13. Louis Armstrong - We Have All the Time in the World
14. Tom Jones - Thunderball

Thunderball comes closest to a thumbs down. I like Tom Jones, but not the song.

reply

Agreed about Tom Jones, I think a female singer may have done a better job with that, but its not a great song to start with.

reply

I haven't seen enough Bond movies to pick a top and bottom 5, but I will say that the Sam Smith one was awful.

reply

I bought it on MP3 because I always buy James Bond songs...but I have since deleted it, and I didn't bother to buy the Billie Eilish song, so a tradition of mine has stopped due to the 007 songs being mostly crap now.

reply

i was never a big 007 fan. so im no expert on the music but view to a kill, Live and Let Die, and skyfall are quite enjoyable

listening to your lists, jeez, these are exceptionally bad....wpw....
2. Jack White & Alicia Keyes – Another Way to Die
3. Madonna – Die Another Day

reply

I am only going by the songs and not the movies since I have not seen all the Bond films, only about a quarter of them.
Best
1. Nobody Does it Better - Carly Simon
2. All Time High - Rita Coolidge
3. Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney and Wings
4. Skyfall - Adele
5. For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton

Worst
1. Die Another Day - Madonna (also the worst Bond film I've seen)
2. The World is not Enough - Garbage
3. You Know My Name - Chris Cornell
4. License to Kill - Glady Knight
5. Another Way to Die - Jack White and Alicia Keyes

reply

Good list, the Carly Simon song would have been a hit even if it was unaffiliated to James Bond in my opinion.

reply

Yeah. I didn't even realize it was a James Bond until years after I first heard it.

reply

Wow, it just goes to show what a good song it is. We Have All the Time in the World is another well-loved song that not everyone connects with James Bond.

reply

In 1987 Shirley Bassey recorded a bunch of James Bond themes for an album to be called "The Bond Collection" (aka "Bassey Sings Bond"). She promoted it on some show that was celebrating some James Bond anniversary, where she lip-synched (she rarely did that) "A View to a Kill"

The album has some pretty amateurish music and she declined to release it. It got out anyway (1992), Bassey sued, and all unsold copies were withdrawn, making it a collector's item, but not a particularly expensive one as only a completist would want it. There are three tracks from it on YouTube

Thanks for sharing, I love listening to her voice belt out dance into the fire! 🔥

reply

Oh man, I can see why she wanted that version of Thunderball dead and buried. Sounds like a electronic organ set to "accordian".

Dance Into the Fire... not terrible. I think if it had been more orchestral and less 80s-sounding, it might have worked for her specifically.

You Only Live Twice... some sort of breezy 60s Hollywood romantic comedy, probably starring David Niven.
