do you use twitter?
no
shareI gave it a go for a month many years ago but other people's tweets didn't hold my interest, or my tweets anyone else's interest for that matter.
👎 no
shareI have an account but Twitter is a trainwreck in its format. I don't see a lot of value to it.
shareand yet it seems popular.
shareTake a look at what's popular on Facebook and it's easy to understand. A thousand pointless (and often incorrect) memes, pet pictures and people making vague references to issues that are best left out of the public eye. I guess that people really like to absorb this kind of thing for hours a day.
shareNo to Twitter. Never. I have a Facebook account, but that's only so long lost friends and such can contact me. I just check for messages there but don't use it for anything else. Screw social media.
shareNope!
shareNo, and no to Facebook also.
shareNo, but it seems for high profile people it's a must. Not because they are narcissists but it's a way to promote the brand.
If you're a sportswriter or commentator and you become popular on Twitter, I think it gives you more leverage in your career choices and salary.
But I usually prefer long-form journalism than all these quick hits. Just a mindless mob jumping to be in whatever is trending as quick as possible.

I know one guy, not a public figure, who's a real narcissist. Being around him means at some point listening to him preach to the room about everything he thinks is wrong with the world. Especially politics. What makes it particularly obnoxious is that he clearly believes everyone else is dying to know what he thinks of the latest current events, when in reality nobody cares. His diatribes inspire discreet winks, rolled eyes, and smirks from the rest of us.
He opened a Twitter account and bugged everyone he knew to do the same. I think he believed he would get legions of followers. The only ones who followed him were his wife and a couple of other relatives. I wonder how many others like him there are on Twitter, Facebook, etc.
Once I was at a job working by myself and this guy came in to service the printers. Next thing I know he's telling me how much he hates the liberal college town that dominates the area, blah blah blah, and all I could think is - Why are you talking to me about this? I don't agree and it's not friendly small talk and I'm stuck here working ! Keep it to yourself, jerk !

Such people can be staggeringly clueless. My acquaintance -- I won't call him a friend because I don't consider him to be one, there are some people in life whom because of social connections one must simply tolerate -- should have got the hint that only he considers himself to be a wise sage. Instead he continued to pontificate, dispense unsolicited (and useless) advice, et cetera. Yep, a jerk.
No.
