I'm not gonna lie. I just saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I & II. I haven't seen them in a while. The first one came out when I was 7 and from 7 to about 12, I've seen it an embarrassing amount of times.
I can't say that I've watched a bad movie for nostalgia reasons. If it's bad, I'd rather not waste the time. I will say, however, that sometimes a childhood movie that I thought was good, turns out to be pretty bad when I revisit it. Leaves me wondering what I thought was so great about it the first time around.
YES & NO...I REWATCH MOVIES AND TV SHOWS FROM MY CHILDHOOD CONSTANTLY...I DONT THINK THEYRE BAD THOUGH...THE FILM MANNEQUIN FOR INSTANCE...I LOVE THAT FUCKING MOVIE...IVE SEEN IT OVER 100 TIMES,EASY...AND MOST CALL IT A BAD MOVIE...BUT I REALLY ENJOY/LIKE THE MOVIE...ITS SPORTING A NICE 5 OUT OF 5 ON MY LETTERBOXD AND SITS WITHIN MY TOP 100 FILMS OF ALL TIME.
I watch the Ewoks movies regularly for this reason. They don't even read as bad to me, though others would disagree I'm sure. I have such a connection to them that it's just all good when I watch those things.
The Foot is super dark in that first film. The ambiance of their lair is so cool. It's got the lights-on fun arcade mode, but then when Shredder shows up it get's cold silent, and dark. When his gruff voice pierces the silence with "Money cannot buy the honor which you have earned tonight..." I am so into it. The backstory with Oroku Saki and Splinter, the Turtles origin, Elias Koteas as Casey Jones, what more could I ask for in a film?!
