Tim has deleted his account because of the harassment he was getting from the sock account. The sad thing is that the sock account will probably get a new account and post here giving everyone else a hard time.

I nuked every one of the accounts that was attacking him, sometimes within a minute of them being created. What do you suggest should have been done differently? Or was it just the regularly scheduled time for your daily "MovieChat moderators suck" post?

It is a longtime, deeply-burrowed troll who uses a wide variety of VPNs and has numerous sock accounts. His attacks on Tim exposed a few more accounts than he intended and I think losing those is what really set him off.

Sock 25. 26 and 27 of an account that was banned months ago for repeated rule violations. They weren't deleted because of whatever they wrote to you, they were deleted because they are not allowed to be here at all anymore.

Yes I know, I mentioned them because I was suspicious that they were sock accounts since they used the same name in the second half of the username.

shareI've been a Mod on forums before, even a co Admin on one site that I started with a friend. I know it's not easy but the Mods here don't enforce rules, look at the Trump page where people aren't supposed to post about politics!
If they can't even moderate something as clear as that then I doubt they would be able to moderate something more complex or serious.
There's very few of them that I know of, from experience I know they can help, it's just picking the right Mod to help you with your problem, I was getting harassed by a sock account about a year ago, after a while I reported the issue and at first was told that a different Mod had looked over my report and didn’t see much of an issue with it, the Mod I was talking to however agreed to look into the posts again and noticed the harassment of more than one poster was coming from just one user and banned the sock accounts.
The first Mod was useless, the second Mod did her job like a pro.
How would you even find a mod to contact them?
I get it's Mod 1,2,3 etc but they are too faceless and you never know who's online here.
Mod1 and Mod2 have retired. Mod3 is on hiatus. Mod4, Mod5 and Mod6 I believe are active. I’m not sure if Mod7 onwards exist - I don’t get in trouble enough, lol.

Why do you care if a Mod is faceless? You want a name and a picture? Why? You are kind of tripping out here. Do you suspect that your Karaoke nemesis is bedeviling you as a Mod?

I never considered that a Mod would also have an active forum identity. Still, in what universe does it make sense for Mods to not be anonymous?
This is the first forum I have been on where the Mods have aliases. Every other forum the Mods use their regular names and just have Mod or a Different font colour etc to identify themselves.
The forums themselves also tell who is online, especially the staff.
Here you really don't have any idea what is going on.
I feel completely unaffected by my ignorance. I have never run afoul of the Mods. My occasional soft-trolling can easily be argued as compelling interaction.
If some Mod is a mild-mannered civilian of these boards then I hope they are entertained some times. A secret identity that has to sort shit by degree of aroma has to have some up side. Some kind of erstwhile vetting process for Mod'dome open to the public would result in zero mods.
I feel like I have typed 99% more than the weight of my interest in the exchange.

Please, let's stay civil. Nobody is perfect, but moderators here are in general much better than mods in other forums.
I wish most sites in internet had this level of moderation.
