I was checking how was the Halloween Horror Crop 2020, in the hope of finding some non-woke nice horror flick to watch this weekend.

First, we have the diversity witches. Pass.
Then, a movie about black immigrants in an little English town where something dark awaits. C'mon, what do you expect in a town filled with (evil) white British males??. Ok, pass.
Then, a masked evil (white male) psychopath chasing a poor innocent female. Pass.
Then, a movie about evil white males kidnapping poor innocent blacks to enslave them in some kind of farm because, you know, whites males are evil. Pass.
Then, a movie about diverse American tourists tortured by Russian white males. For some reason, Russians seem to share with nazis the podium of absolute white male evilness in the woke mind. Pass? I dunno, I'm running out of options.

Then I found a recent movie about a Goblin (chasing a poor innocent female, of course). Well, who knows? That could be like those classic 'Troll' movies, or the 'Ghoolies' ones. The bad guy is a green creature. There's no fucking way this movie is gonna be about an evil white male... isn't it?

ISN'T IT?

Let me copy the plot: "A young woman fights to protect her son from her abusive new (white male) husband and a ferocious creature lurking in the shadows."

So... have a happy woke Halloween 2020! 😄

I watch a lot of Horror movies and I haven’t seen the first woke one yet. Maybe your looking in the wrong place.

What I was talking about were recent Horror movies, released this month. I wasn't making them up. For example, this is the Goblin one

All the movies could be summed up in "evil white males chasing females or non-whites", with one exception that could be summed up in "evil Russian white males chasing diverse non-Russians". Probably, I'll watch this last one. At least it's a slightly different plot. 😄

It is a compliment. The same way if a Christian fundamentalist tells me that I'm a sinner, an Atheist and a Devil worshiper: I'd consider it a compliment!

Probably other Christian fundamentalists would say the same as you: "it's really not". And I understand: for a believer, it's really not. But I don't share your faith. 🙂

Nope, it doesn't describes almost every horror movie in the last 50 years. It could describe one particular movie in 1978, which is Halloween. It doesn't even describe sequels of that particular movie, as could be Halloween III.

It could describe Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th part 2, 3, 7, 8, 10, and Freddy Vs Jason, a Nightmare on Elm Street 1,3, & 4, The Slumber Party Massacre 1,2 & 3, Peeping Tom, Maniac, The Toolbox Murders, Black Christmas, Terror Train, Prom Night, Scream 1 and 3, Hush, and Halloween 2, 4, and 5 just off the top of my head.

Many of those movies are slashers where the guy kills teenagers, both guys and girls.

Anyway, the problem is not that the villain is a white male and the main character is a woman or a non-white. There's nothing wrong with it. The problem nowadays is that that has become the pattern: white males are the default evil villains that chase poor oppressed females/non-whites.

But horror movies and fairy tales have always been about those who have the power going after the weaker beings. That's why we root for the final girl trope, whether they are female or not it doesn't really matter. It's a David and Goliath type setting. We need to see those without power overcoming those who do have power.

In modern Hollywood, people in power are systematically represented using a "diverse" cast.

Judges? Half of times it's a middle aged black woman. If the judge happens to be an evil villain, though, 99.9% of chances they'll cast a white male actor.

It has become so obligatory than you can even predict the twists. You have a non-white male in power in a movie who is allegedly a good person, well, that's fine. However, if that person in power is an old white male, you can be almost sure that there will be a plot twist and he'll end up being a villain.

It's possible.

You take a movie released today where the villain is Jew, and it's nothing special. But if the same movie was released in Germany during the 30s, probably it would be nazi according to anybody, since the evil Jew villain was a recurrent nazi trope back then.

I was actually looking for recent horror movies with no race/gender politics included (non-woke)

It's funny that after checking a dozen recent western horror movies, I wasn't able to find a single one. That's why I opened this thread.

Though I finally found one: Sputnik, a recent Russian horror movie. The only recent horror movie without race/gender politics I could find was... the only non western one I checked. Food for thoughts... 😐

Regardless of political leanings why do you feel to comment so often on films that you don’t like. If you don’t like the message then watch something else that you do enjoy instead of bringing it to everyone’s attention in general chat. These threads alienate people and cause them to leave or post less. If you feel so strongly about it, another option is to post in the politics forum. Users there want to talk about these things I would guess.

Threads like this are great for me. And it allows people to speak about things that they normally are not allowed to speak about.

It's actually kind of depressing how almost every movie is woke. A few years ago, you could find non-woke horror movies for Halloween. This year, it's damn difficult.

Very low budgets movies are vanishing too, probably because of the DVD market vanishing. Stream platforms are the new media distributors, the new common carriers of information, but they're not neutral carriers.

Not sure how their Wokeness translates to ratings and ticket sales. I know there are lots of Woke white people out there but how many times could even they be able to watch themselves being portrayed as the villain?

I think low budget films are disappearing because everyone wants the high level special effects and production qualities, they don't care if the scripts, acting etc suck, they just want it to look good on a superficial level.

Good question. I think that the usual mindset is that if you repeat enough that white males are evil, then you will be praised for your repentance as a white male and you will be considered virtuous and then universal love will reign.

They don't realize that if you keep repeating that white males are evil, people will end being convinced that they are the root of all evil... you included. And that fuels ethnic conflict.

Sooner or later, they'll wake up (kind of ironic, isn't it?). That's happening to a very woke relative of mine. She's suddenly realizing that this culture she loves is going to hell. And no matter how woke she was, it's not pleasant to see her suffer. Wokes are gonna be the ones that will suffer the most, because the day they wake up, they will realize at the same time that they are responsible for the decline.

When I was younger I was Left wing, not obsessively so but Left enough. I started to realize that as a White, Straight male they essentially wanted me dead. That I would never be considered equal or good enough etc. That was when I woke up.

I also think when you tell someone they are not good enough, enough times eventually they start to rebel. It becomes too much, they realize no matter how hard they try they will never be Woke enough in this case. That is when they start walking away so that is a good thing.

Exactly. Non White cultures are very traditional and for good reason. Those traditions work. If White culture loses itself than you lose Woke as well. You will not have Islam accepting LGBTIQ, you will not have Africans accepting female soldiers and police etc.

And look at what has happened in France recently. More killings in the street. The French are waking up the hard way now too.

I hope wokes eventually will wake up. Probably, they will. Right now, the mindset is "I'm not whipping myself hard enough, I must whip myself harder, then everything will be fine", but there's gonna be a moment when people realize that it doesn't matter how hard you whip yourself.

It's hard, though, because wokes have invested a lot of emotional capital in their beliefs. Accepting that you have been wrong all along is one of the most difficult things in life. Not to say that it means to leave the beautiful dream universal love and diversity oh-kumbayah, and entering the tough reality of ethnic conflicts.

Yes! That is something I have said before. The Left/Wokes have invested so much in their belief system. It is like asking a hardcore Christian to question the concept of a virgin birth, especially as we are talking about God and why couldn't he just manifest his son or come down himself?

Feminists are already feeling the bite of their own monster because they don't like the idea of Trans women competing against them and being able to tick those magic boxes.

We see the Left turn on itself and it's followers often which is why they are so zealous in their beliefs they are scared to question anything.

Yep, JK.Rowling (for example) had a bitter taste of that medicine. She doubled down because she's insanely rich, the Harry Potter movies and books are already finished, and she doesn't give a shit about being cancelled. But she has become the new boogeyman. I feel really curious about her next books and how she translates that experience to them.

Until now, wokes thought that if they whipped themselves enough, they would be safe and they would keep their own share of power and status. For some inexplicable (cough, cough) reason, all those white wokes promoting "diversity" never decided to step down from their chair and let a non-white take it. But that's changing. No white is safe, not anymore. JK Rowling discovered that.

There was a very funny couple of tweets from some known journalist, this last summer. In the first one he was cheering up BLM and supporting their right to riot and burn buildings. The second one was written a couple of weeks later, once BLM reached his neighborhood, he was yelling where the fuck was the police! 😂
