Sequels you wanted to see

Here’s a list of a few I’d of love to have seen a year or so after the original, but not now.

Cobra – Marion "Cobra" Cobretti had an iconic look with his Ray-Ban 3030 sunglasses and his Submachine Gun, another cinematic outing perhaps in the early 90’s would have been welcome.

Commando - John Matrix really was a man of his word it turns out, by turning down an offer to return to his Special Forces Unit at the very end of the movie! I’d have loved to have seen Arnold return to this role for another Ramboesque action adventure rather than churn out those unfunny comedies he did in the early 90’s.

Leon– A grown up Mathilda out for revenge and using the skills taught to her by Leon would have made an excellent sequel.

Reservoir Dogs – This would rely heavily on flashbacks showing the heist we never saw from the first movie, perhaps it could interweave with Pulp Fiction by showing the relationship of the Vega Brothers too.

Trading Places – More of a spin-off than sequel, I always wanted to watch a movie centred on the dastardly Dukes after their cameo in Coming to America!

What sequels would you have like to have seen that never got made?

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004)
The Rocketeer (1991)
You've Got Mail (1998)
John Carter (2012)
Inside Out (2015) - I've heard this one may be a possibility.

reply

I would have liked to have seen a Sky Captain sequel too, or an Angelina Jolie spin off.

reply

You've Got Mail.. two ideas come to mind "You've got spam" and "You've got a Nigerian Prince!"

reply

Terrifier 2.
Soon though, soon.

reply

On the Beach - 20 years later, we find out there are pockets of humanity who survived deep underground.

reply

Footloose II - Ren goes on the road and discovers more towns where dancing and even music are banned...

Flashdance II - Actually Flashdance could have easily become a franchise if made today. Each installment is about a new dancer trying to make it against the odds.

Showgirls II - Watch Nomi as she continues her descent and self destruction..

reply

Have you seen Showgirls 2: Penny's From Heaven? It has a 1.8 rating on IMDb but I'm sure that's an oversight.

reply

I haven't seen it and forgot they did one! Given what I've just read about it I think my idea is better.

reply

I just watched the trailer, we’re better off not knowing about it.

reply

I HAD NO IDEA...WELL..NOW I HAVE TO SEE THE TRAILER.

OH MY...THAT LOOKS...SPECIAL...THERES A PART 3 TOO...FUCK,THAT'S WEIRD.

reply

I don't think they ever made part 3, there's a trailer but it's not listed on IMDb.

reply

LMAO...THAT'S EVEN BETTER.

Django (1966)

The Corbucci directed film, although there being over 30 unofficial sequels which use the Django name, has only one official sequel starring Franco Nero. This obscure film is called Django Strikes Again (1987) and is not well regarded.

I’ve always thought Django deserved a proper sequel, and one released just a few years after the original. This was never to be, but Nero is still with us and there is a Django project being talked about and rumored to costar Tomas Milian with it’s filming location to be in New Orleans.

“ The renowned gunslinger fends off racism in 1914 America. He's up in years but still as deadly as ever. ”

I remember you posting about this on the Django Unchained board, I hope it gets made.

I bet you've seen most of these: https://youtu.be/QqrqNbl8n1k

Great link! Thanks for digging that up. 👍

Proper sequels to Aliens, Batman Returns and Superman 2.

reply

Agree with all three. 100%

Master and Commander 2

reply

So many books, yet only one movie. 😐

reply

The claim is that it just didn't do well enough at the box office. A shame.

Have you read any of the books?

reply

Just one, back around the time the movie came out! I should get round to reading them all, same with the Flashman books, I love those. There's only ever been one Flashman film as well.

reply

So the book was pretty good? Which one was it?

reply

Master and Commander was a good read I remember, but I was put off with continuing with the series because there are so many of them.

reply

Which reminds me: -

That must have been Seaman Stains talking to Master Bates.

reply

Possibly Roger the Cabinboy

reply

He was off screen with Pugwash.

reply

I enjoyed the first two novels, they are very detailed about sailing.

Too bad they never made more movies, That was a good one, sequels would have great.

reply

Prequel is in the works based on book 1.

reply

Book 1 is Master and Commander.

I hope they get the casting right, I enjoyed Russell Crowe performance in the first movie.

reply

There is a prequel movie in the works based on the first book, which is about Jack Aubreys first appointment as Commander and the beginning of his friendship and Stephen Maturin, the ships surgeon and intelligence agent.

Thanks for the update on this. Some stuff I've found:

https://screenrant.com/master-commander-prequel-movie-release-date-story/

https://screenrant.com/master-commander-prequel-not-sequel-movie-reason/

A look into Patrick Ness (mentioned as a writer in the first article) doesn't mention anything in his upcoming projects that might be the prequel.

I dunno if this is dead or what.

With all due respect to Star Trek: Enterprise fans, I didn't care at all for a series that was a sort of prequel. I wanted to go forward, not backward. Going back in time for an episode is fine. Not a series, though. But it is kind of too late now. I have no interest in any current Star Trek stuff being done. The momentum was lost for me.
