Anyone here take vitamin D supplements?

Just wondering...

reply

During the darkest days of Winter, yes.

reply

Do they help?

reply

I think it can’t hurt to take it when there is less sunshine.

reply

You’re gonna win the bracket

reply

Yay me!

reply

Till you face me ...

reply

You'll have to catch me first.

reply

I have been since the start of covid.

reply

Same, but I forget to take them a lot

reply

Yes - I've had skin cancer and have to avoid the sun, so I take Vitamin D.

reply

A few years ago my doctor said that according to my blood work I needed to take vitamin D. I started out at 2000 IU daily, but about a year ago (so nothing to do with Covid) was told to double that. So I take 4000 IU every day. Occasionally I'll skip a day, or just take 2000 IU, especially if I've been out in the sun for a while. My last blood work said my numbers were right on.

reply

4000 IU’s is what I’ve been taking also, since Covid though. I work outside and get a lot of sun but there just seems to be evidence that increased vitamin D levels help in not having a bad case of Covid.

reply

Do you feel any better since taking them?

reply

Impossible to know. I was recommended the stuff based on blood levels, not on any complaints I was making. He also recommended Vitamin B12, which I take 750 mcg daily. Almost a year ago I quit smoking and alcohol which would be a far more noticeable difference.

reply

Yes, I take 5000 IUs per day. Even during Summer. I take it with Magnesium & Calcium along with Fish Oil.

reply

during the winter. vitamin d is the only vitamin my doctor ever recommended. a well balanced diet should be sufficient for the rest.

reply

Vitamin D is probably the most important vitamin.

reply

Only in the last week I've begun taking Magnesium & Cod Liver Oil, which includes it.

reply

So many people are deficient in magnesium.

reply

After reading this, I'm worried if the Cod Liver Oil is enough? Or just go with Vit D?

reply

Yep; they're called walking the dog out in the sun in the mornings, and drinking a cup of skim milk in at dinnertime.
