Main plus 2 others escape on inflatable raft (life boats destroyed in initial panic/spread).
Watch ship being bombed from afar.
Two of them murder the other one in raft when they think he is bit. He wasn't.
End with adrift with mutual distrust.

And I’d have it be caused by unsuccessful vaccines created for covid 19, but in this scenario the zombies would be more agile than the humans, similar to 28 Days Later in that aspect, but also much stronger like Bane or The Hulk, they would be savages creating grim chaos!
The only hope for humanity would be Rob Zombie and his axe...because in this movie the only way to subdue a zombie would be by playing very loud music!
