Good movies with bad titles.
Inglourious Basterds
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Edge of Tomorrow
Precious: Based on the Novel "Push" by Sapphire
The Shawshank Redemption
Inglourious Basterds
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Edge of Tomorrow
Precious: Based on the Novel "Push" by Sapphire
The Shawshank Redemption
I don't think Edge of Tomorrow and Shawshank are bad titles.
Always thought The Empire Strikes Back sounded kind of wonky.
You messed up though cause you said good movies and then have Inglorious Basterds listed! Just joking, I just couldn't get into that one.
Remember the title is a homage to Inglorious Bastards (1978), an Italian film directed by Enzo G. Castellari.

Edge of Tomorrow just doesn't sound like a sci-fi action movie. It sounds like some teen movie about some girl struggling with high school. Shawshank is just a strange word and adding "redemption" kind of spoils the ending.
I actually think Star Wars is a strange title. It's more like Space Wars.
I was going to mention Star Wars it sounds really generic but I guess a product of it's time. I don't think that title would fly now.
shareI couldn't get into Basterds either! There were some great scenes wrapped into a nothing story to me. To each their own.
shareMinority Report. No one even knows what that means.
shareIsn't that what you do when you call the authorities on an illegal immigrant?
shareHahahahahaha!!!
shareOddly enough, I thought it was something along those lines when I first heard of it and it sounded like it would be something completely uninteresting. Luckily, a friend told me to watch it and I totally loved it!
shareThe term is explained in the movie and its original source material.
shareI still don't know what that means.
shareAttack of the Clones (the worst Star Wars title ever)
Quantum of Solace (WTF does that mean - I had to break it down to decipher it)
Octopussy (I remember back when this came out people laughed hard)
Fan4tastic (ugg, should probably put 2 Fast 2 Furious here too)
We Bought a Zoo (Damon got wrecked for this one)
Fant4stic is a bad title, but the movie is even worse so it fits. This thread is about good movies with bad titles.
share"GOOD" movies.
shareI don't know why so many people hate the title "We Bought a Zoo." It is what it's about. Maybe too obvious though.
shareGood entries, particularly your first two.
shareThose movies are all famously dogshit
shareI like the title Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I think it fits the movie perfectly.
I would add A Clockwork Orange. If you haven't read the book, the title has no context.
the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a superb, poetic turn of phrase.
if you don't see the wicked beauty of that, you have my sympathy.
Sweetheart (2019)

A pretty good low budget horror movie.
The name is 95 percent irrelevant.
I gave it a 9/10 on IMDb.
