what are your unpopular TV opinions
Friends sucked.
shareIs the Big Bang Theory that good?....I don’t watch much network TV....
shareI know someone who worked in particle physics and he said it is a good representation of what those guys are like. Which is a little scary. He found it very funny.
sharewatching big bang makes me want to blow my brains out that show is the worst lol
shareI think a lot of sitcoms wear out their welcome after five years or so and then people only remember the show after it got tired. For example when Big Bang came out I loved it because it embraced nerd culture as no show did. Roseanne was fantastic when it came out showing the lower-class family struggles. Friends was really funny but the characters were all over forty when it ended and it was about 20-somethings in Manhattan.
shareIt was ok until all the guys coupled up. Then it became like any other sitcom. Sheldon, the biggest misfit in the show just was unlikely to ever couple up with anyone. Rather disappointing they did that to him.
shareEverybody Loves Raymond is the worst #1 show in TV history....
shareI never really cared for shows like "The office" , "breaking bad", or "Greys Anatomy".
I have some of them a chance but they were just boring!
If I have to invest in several tv shows (chicago series) just to find out how crossover stories end, I will not even bother starting.
Sitcoms are not funny.
Reality tv will go down as one of the crumbling blocks of western society. Including competition shows, home improvement, house flipping, any family, people, or "this occupation!!!"
Wow, I agree with all 3 things you stated...for sitcoms, I just go back to the old trusted ones, Golden Girls, Three’s Company, select Roseanne eps., most Seinfeld is new to me.....And forget network, HBOs Curb and Veep work for me...
Reality TV, not my bag...
same here
shareI whole heartedly disagree with you’re reality show opinion, shows like Jackass, T-Pain’s school of business, ink master, pimp my ride, etc. are all incredibly entertaining and are just different forms of television.
shareI'm not going to speak for my fellow poster Hownos, but mine was not an opinion...I just stated that reality TV is not my type of preferred viewing...
shareI was referring to the older sitcoms.
shareGame of Thrones and Breaking Bad suck big time.
shareI loved Game of Thrones for the look of it and the "real live" dragons. But the story line was relentlessly nihilistic and soul destroying and that is all down to that bastard GRRM. And then they drove the knife in with that appalling slap in the face of a final season and that was all down to those bastards D&D.
Game of Thrones was okay, some eps were excellent....I’m just glad I binged all but the last season in 3 weeks, I would’ve been upset if I invested 10 years, or however long it was, only to get that very average last season....
shareYes when it was good it really was great. 'The Winds of Winter' Season 6 Episode 10 where Cersei blows up the Sept of Baelor was a flat out masterpiece.
You made the right choice with your viewing strategy. I started reading the books back in 1997 so it was a very long and frustrating business for me. The first three books were very good, the fourth was a well written bore and the fifth was a poorly written travesty. I also think that whoever wrote the first three books didn't write the fifth book. The style of writing is completely different and the first three books were written by a very good writer whereas the fifth book was written by a total hack.
I doubt the general public will ever know the truth of what went on with this series either with regard to the books or the TV show but both have a distinctly unpleasant smell about them.
I didn’t read the books but Ive read a little bit about the process and the ways of the idiosyncratic Martin...Correct me if I’m wrong, please, but based on my reading and research it just seems Martin became either lazy and uninterested or just said screw it, I’ll take the cash...the ep you mentioned was great, some of my faves included the storylines where Tyrion was on trial and subsequent episodes, the acting was top notch there, IMHO....
shareAs you say the acting and the look of the show were first class. The problem, as with the books, was the writing.
I've had a long time to look at what GRRM did and what he said and I have come to the conclusion that just below the surface he appears to be a lying bastard who has been playing his fans for suckers while milking them for the cash. As to why he did what he did with regard to the writing your guess is probably as good as mine.
