Do you find it's challenging working in a female dominated workplace with a female boss? Especially as a dude?

I find female dominated workplaces with female bosses tend to have a lot of tension and it can feel like you're walking on eggshells alot. Anyone else feel this way?

Working for a female boss in a female dominated office as a male is especially tough. I find female bosses tend to micromanage which makes you feel useless and not respected. Also, female bosses tend to feel the need to overcompensate for their gender, so they're especially hard on their male employees to prove that they're 'tough' like a man. It's kinda 'cute' in a way that they do this.

Male bosses were never like this to me. Male bosses tend to respect my space and leave me alone. They don't care about the little steps as long as the final result is good then it's cool between us. Female bosses tend to be more picky and care a lot about the little steps that male bosses tend to ignore.

I'm female, but I've personally never experienced any issues working for a female boss in a female-dominated workplace. I'd say I had more issues working for a male boss in a co-ed office, but that was largely due to his coke addiction and his lack of taking responsibility rather than his gender.

During my final years working in retail I spent it working primarily with women. Two of my bosses treated me like trash because they kind of got off on it because it was staffed with a majority of women. I did a majority of the hard labor work because they refused to do it. The flip side of it was one of my favorite managers ever was also a woman and she had a ton of respect for what I did on the job.

I try to view things person to person instead of lumping people in groups like that. I had some bosses who were fantastic, and I had some bad ones too. There have been a few of the bad ones who align with what you're saying. It's just an archetype you see in people from time to time.
