Ever had a bad personal experience with the police?

Not I. I'm a good boy.

You can also have a bad experience as a victim.

Ever have a good one?

reply

Yes, I saw The Police at Twickenham, South London about 8 years ago. Great gig👍

Zing!

I’m here all week.

I saw them at Fenway Park in 2007. Good times.

reply

I saw the Police in 1983. That was a great experience!

A couple of times when I was young and stupid
I had it coming on every occasion

reply

More than one. Remember there are good and bad cops who can choose to enforce or not to enforce more laws than we can count.

reply

Good and bad... if I had the internet back then, I could’ve skipped juvenile delinquency....

I really have mixed feelings about this...

reply

Yes I did. One time I totally forgot to get my license tags renewed and I got stopped. I signed my name to the ticket and the officer didn't like the way I signed it - which is sort of a scrawl, but didn't quite match the signature on my license.
He told me it didn't match and I explained that really was my signature. He started to be a smart ass with me and told me he could arrest me and take me in if he wanted. Bad vibes right away - big time power trip guy. Figured he was just the kind to plant something in my car and cause me a lot of trouble, so I carefully signed the way he wanted and was on my way.
But I do believe the vast majority of police officers are good people.

I think you were the one being a smartass here.

reply

Guess you had to be there. I was being polite - he wasn't.

reply

You said yourself your signature didn't match the one on your license.

reply

It was the way he asked about my signature. Again, you had to be there. I was probably 42 when this happened - not a young kid and this was for expired tags, not a moving violation.

All he had to do was say, " your signature doesn't match the one on your license and you need to sign it the way it looks on that, " instead of being threatening.

I'll bet most people sign receipts slightly differently than they do a legal document.

Yes the police dance to the tune of the Stygiannati as well of course. But it hasn't been personal...

reply

no tickets last 3 times i was pulled over. i was cool to them, they were cool to me. i'f i'd been an asshole theyd have been too
but ive dealt with power tripping asshole cops before that, they do exist

reply

Not so much cops but I've have had dealt with assholish behavior from border guards when crossing the Detroit-Windsor border.
