Its been 6 weeks now since I've had any type of soda or fast food.


And I feel great! The first week was hard with sugar cravings but I don't have that anymore. Lost 8 pounds so far (and counting) with no exercise (gyms are all closed). I've drastically reduced my sugar intake. The only liquid I drink is water. The only sugar I get are from natural sources (fruits, etc). I do have pre-diabetes and am determined not to become a type 2 diabetic.

It's amazing how rampant type 2 diabetes is.

I don't like soda, so that one's easy for me, but I do like iced sweet tea, and occasionally some fast food, but I've never been a fast food junkie.

Getting past that first week must have been tough. Big kudos to you for getting past it!

Thank you. The first week was tough. But I can honestly say now that I don't crave any sugar. So worth it. I'm determined not to become a type 2 diabetic. Both of my parents are type 2 diabetics.

Oh man. I can't imagine no longer craving sugar. I'm so impressed! Of course I don't have the motivation you do. Neither of my parents (and my father was a total sugar junkie all his life) were diabetic. Still, even with that motivation of deciding you are NOT going to become diabetic, this is an accomplishment worth bragging about!

Same here man. I’ve completely changed my diet during this pandemic and I’ve lost over 20 lbs now.

That is the only positive thing to come out of this virus. It made me focus on my diet much more since I'm not working at the moment.

I gave into peer pressure and ate a whopper from Burger King after months of no fast food. It actually made me feel sick later on.

Sugar is nasty stuff. I'd say worse than alcohol and cigarettes.

I haven't had sugar in a year for the most part. Maybe in ketchup and I may have had a cookie twice. I also quit Beef and Pork about 7 years ago.
But yeah sugar is poison to the body. Keep going and dont fall off the wagon because if you do it will be very hard to get back on.

I gave up sugar, fizzy drinks and fast food decades ago and feel better for it. Unfortunately, alcohol is something I can’t give up.
