[EDIT] Thanks everyone - over 200 suggestions for child friendly films.

Since lockdown started my daughter (nearly 6) and I have waded through: -
8 Harry Potter films
3 Narnia films
3 Wizard of Oz films
2 Mary Poppins films
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Plus, countless Disney cartoons

Any suggestions? Thanks everyone.

These are the type of movies I let the little ones watch. Good or bad, they are definitely kid friendly. There are tons more movies like The Goonies or Explorers, but I don’t think 6 year old girls are the target demographic.

Honey I Shrunk the Kids (1989)
The Land Before Time (1988)
Home Alone (1990)
Jumanji (1995)
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
The Never Ending Story (1984)
Harry and the Hendersons (1987)
Flight of the Navigator (1986)
E.T. (1982)
The Iron Giant (1999)
Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

Bridge to Terabithia (2007)

Not sure if a 6-year-old would like it, maybe more like age 10, but it's great for kids. A film about imagination.

By the time I work through the current list, she probably will be 10, lol.

I used to watch Father Goose (1964), with Carey Grant, quite often as a youngster. I’m not sure if it’s appropriate for that age group though.

reply

I will check it out, thanks.

The Indian in the Cupboard (PG - 1995)

Just a random movie I remember from my childhood.

"On his birthday, Omri (Hal Scardino) is given several simple gifts, including an old wooden cupboard and a small plastic figurine of a Native American man. When he locks the toy inside the cabinet it magically comes to life as a tiny, cagey warrior named Little Bear (Litefoot). The boy then places other toys in the cupboard and they too come to life, even engaging in entertaining battles. But after Little Bear is wounded, Omri begins to understand that his animate toys are not mere playthings."

Sounds interesting, thanks.

Antz (1998)

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1998 version) Can be watched outside of Christmas and holiday season

An American Tail (1986) and also its sequel

Muppet Treasure Island (1994) Musical

Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers (1987) I think it's Scrappy Doo's best appearance

Turtles Forever (2009) Perfect for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fan!

Sky High (2005)

The Flintstones: Hollyrock-a-Bye Baby (1993)

Suburban Commando (1991) The best movie to feature Hulk Hogan, in my opinion, brother! There's child-friendly horror with a particular alien man.

Batman: The Movie (1966) Corny, corny, and purrfect...

Cats Don't Dance (1997) Underrated animated musical with many talents, including Natalie Cole.

Yahoo Wan King! I’ve finally recalled the movie I’ve wracked my brain for hours trying to remember...so simple a title: “Tom Thumb” 1958!

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052427/?mode=desktop

I liked the movie.

Excellent choice! A classic that I saw as a kid.

Anything with Wallace and Gromit in it.

And of course being English, she’ll get all the subtle jokes too (hopefully). Good shout, thanks.
