What was the last movie you watched?

And what would you rate it out of 10? I watched Lovely & Amazing (2001), directed by Nicole Holofcener and starring Catherine Keener, Brenda Blethyn, Emily Mortimer, Raven Goodwin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Dermot Mulroney and Clark Gregg. It is about a woman and her three daughters. I rated it a 7/10.

I watched Black Robe (1991) for the second time last night. First saw it a few years ago.

I haven't seen that one, but it looks like it might be interesting.

I couldn't find it streaming anywhere, but it's free on Youtube.

Cool, thanks for the info.

The Blackcoat's Daughter (2015) originally titled 'February' directed by Osgood Perkins

Another difficult one to understand from Perkins who makes films that require you to think about the meaning hidden below the surface. This one stumped me pretty much completely and I had to go looking for explanations. But once you find the key to it the film unfolds almost magically.

I'd never seen Kiernan Shipka in anything but she impressed the hell out of me here as the main character Kathryn.

8/10

I thought it was alright, a 6/10 from me.

Have you seen Gretel & Hansel (2020) from the same director ? I thought it was even better.

reply

No, I haven't. I will likely check it out eventually.

'Lean On Me' (1989)

I finally got around to piecing all the scenes in order together, having never seen this encouraging film in its entirety before. Morgan Freeman's no nonsense performance and portrayal really gives this film a lot of depth and weight. He helped show that love has many forms. Sometimes it's not something people are going to want to hear or say, being popular, but doing what is needed. It manages to do this without coming off as preachy.
