My stimulus money came in this morning aaaaaand...

It's gone!
Two tires, alignment, wheel bearings and seals, and a 3" lowering kit.
After labor... it's all gone. And probably a bit more.
Oh well, I was gonna do it anyway. Now I can keep My money in the bank cuz President Trump took care of it for me!
It'll be worth it in the long run - better handling and gas mileage, not to mention moving my baby even further from the scrapyard.
It's been an up and down day... time for a beer and a bowl πŸ˜€

Bearings are pricey!!

reply

This old Chevy is pretty good about parts prices, the bearings and seals were only $60.

The lowering kit was $675!
Ouch.

reply

Wow great price, rear bearing for my van cost me $200!

Is that a normal price for the lowering kit?

reply

It depends on what you need. My rear leaf springs are ALOT more work than I figured on (figures) and I had to get new shocks because of the reduced travel. Didn't even think of that.
Actually I managed to wrangle a couple of discounts. Original cost for what I'm getting was around another 50 bucks.

Was that including labor? What kind of van?

reply

No, that was just the part. Labor was around $150. I was going to try it myself after watching a couple of videos, but just wasn't too comfortable with it.

Ah. Definitely a newer vehicle. Front wheel drive? That'd do it.

But I’ll bet you learned about the many benefits of getting a bank savings account!

reply

I'm disabled. Direct deposit required.

reply

I got my check for $1200. in the mail yesterday and deposited it to my bank. Every little bit helps!

reply

Sure beats 200

reply

Mine gave me some breathing room since my property taxes and homeowners insurance are due in May. Otherwise, it would have been a struggle due to gutters for my house that were ordered last fall. What a relief.

reply

Good deal.

I got mine via direct deposit a couple of weeks ago. It was a nice surprise to get it so soon, and very timely. I used it to help pay for the new gutters I had installed about two days later, which was about two weeks earlier than I was expecting, but I was supporting a local business, thank you. Always happy to do that.

Gotta love it.
