NYC reports no new coronavirus deaths for first time since mid-March

That is good news but it will be interesting to see if there is a sudden surge in cases after these protests and riots.

Sad how everytime there's a crisis in the Us, NYC is always the hardest hit.

Day 83 of Lockdown.
My state is experiencing an explosion of new cases. Like 4000 this week.
I think we're in trouble Andy.
I forget which state you live in? I'm in Ohio and right now we are in a decline.
shareAmazingly enough, my state, Louisiana seems to be on the decline also after being one of the early epicenters.
shareArizona
shareIs the death rate also rising at the same rate or is this because of increased testing?
shareMay 15 Governor Ducey lifted the stay-at-home order. Citizens stampeded out of their homes. This is also a state where citizens protested by storming the Capital demanding to go out and back to work.
They say increased testing is NOT a factor.
That the people are just not doing pandemic right.
Jesus, I dont know, but the Navajo Nation is in big trouble.
The rate of contagion is the highest it has ever been, and climbing. Gov. Ducey gave a lame speech about us rallying together to once again "flatten the curve"".
Yes the death rate is high. On Sunday 1500 Arizonans died from covid in a 24 hour time span.
7,000 new cases since June 4th. Scary.
I was reading several weeks ago about native Americans and the problems they are having. In which county or counties do the Navajo's live? When I looked at the map earlier today it appears all of Arizona is rising and that seems strange to me because there is so much open space.
sharearizona only has 1127 deaths in total - stay safe laura

Florida breaks record for new coronavirus cases recorded in a single day
https://nypost.com/2020/06/11/florida-breaks-record-for-new-coronavirus-cases-in-a-single-day/
Its all happening.
shareWell let's hope the people who are infected do not take it back to those who are at risk. For myself who is at risk because of my age and my husband who is at risk because of age and medical reasons, we are going out a little as long as it's outdoors where right now I feel relatively safe as long as there aren't large crowds.
I went to a pub on Tuesday night to play trivia outside with friends and will continue to do that every week during the nice weather. My son is taking me out to lunch on Sunday for a belated Mother's Day celebration and my husband and I are going out to dinner with his daughter and her husband Monday night.
He and I have both been to the dentist and doctor's.
We will have a better idea in another week if states like mine have been impacted by people going out more.
Kinda sad how New York is always targeted. But at least they have far less cases now. They went from like 5000 to less than 600.
shareImagine if you had the minute by minute details of all deaths from the top ten things that kill people every year for the last ten years. Maybe everyone should stop driving, eh? Auto accidents kill over 50,000 a year.
shareI hate that comparison - accidents are not the result of a contagious disease.
shareYou gotta stay safe no matter what the cost is though, right? You endanger others every time you drive. Save lives, stay home.
shareNo - I absolutely do not think you have to stay safe no matter what. There is a huge difference between an accident occurring when driving and possibly spreading a virus by not being careful, which would not be accidental.
shareI talking about the coverage. If our media gave us daily updates on deaths from car accidents nationwide, we would have car panic. If our previous years of virus trouble had been covered with this same level of hype, we might have locked down then too.
You aware of the bullet points of 1969? Man on the Moon. Woodstock. What about a pandemic that killed a million people? Didn't sacrifice 4 million jobs for that did we?
Our media have never been known for being responsible. Those at risk should be careful. The rest have to keep things running (like the 60% of jobs that were "essential"). The coverage has been as though this was Ebola running rampant in the streets. The mortality rate for those who contract it under the age of 65 is .01%. If they stressed that, we might not be facing the economic disaster we are.
You know Japan did not force anyone to do anything? They merely suggested that everyone do 3 things: Avoid closed in spaces, avoid crowds, and avoid contact. They didn't force businesses to close. They have about the same numbers as we do but did not have to torpedo their workforce. Our worship of media coupled with their worship of ratings equaled calamity greater than the cause.
Agree with you 100% about the news media.
