Something he said resonated with me. I read a book about how farm animals are social beings with emotions and feel physical pain. Humans are cruel towards them without thinking about it. Keeping them in small cage where they can't move, hooking them up to machines to force milk out of their bodies for hours each day, slaughtering them.
Phoenix was saying cows feel emotion when you take their newborn. Then, we take the milk meant for their newborn and put it in our coffee. It does sound bizarre.
This is who he is. Have you seen Earthlings, 2005? It's a very disturbing documentary about human abuse and consumption of animals for profit. He's a very serious person and this is one of his passions.
Anyway, he is the narrator of the film. See it. It will make you change some things in your life. Maybe.
i've seen earthlings, & also dominion from 2018, which he narrated along with rooney mara & was also on that topic.
i haven't watched phoenix's speech yet, but i've read a bit about it. i know he can come across as a bit kooky or cringey or self-serious at times, but whatever you might want to say about him, he appears to live by the principles he talks about, & i think he deserves credit for that. by all appearances, his actions are consistent with his words.
It is wrong. We wouldnât allow this treatment for our beloved dogs or cats. The terror they face on slaughter day is sickening. âLambs to the slaughterâ indeed.
