People were more real. Now many people are whatever they think they're supposed to be, and end up being a xerox copy of someone else who wasn't being themselves, and just going along the sheep ride to the end of the cliff.

Pretty much. Back then of course we didn't have the internet and regions and even suburbs had their own look and feel to them. People developed their own sense of identity as you say. You look at most cities now for example and they could be anywhere in the world, there is a lack of individuality in all aspects of life.
