Why is cola the most popular flavour soda?

I don't know, but Coke is definitely my favorite flavor.

I dont drink much soda anymore, but to me there is hardly anything better than a burger and an ice cold Coke.

Its popularity could be a comfort thing. Pepsi and Coke are easily the most heavily marketed beverages, and have been around forever. Cola is probably the first flavor of soda many people ever tried in their life, and associate it as being the 'original'.

I think it's because it's one of those intensely sweet things that doesn't lose it's appeal over time. A lot of the snacks and sweets I loved as a kid taste pretty gross now I'm an adult. Cola has universal age appeal.

Caffeine is addictive which might be part of the reason, that and Coke and Pepsi put a lot of marketing dollars behind their products.

I don't drink coffee, so I get my caffeine and sugar intake from cola.
