calorie restriction
do you count calories? 1500-2000 is the ideal amount
shareSometimes, if I want lose a few pounds after the holidays. I use the Lose It app. It gets kind of tedious after a few weeks, but it is good kickstarter to curb bad snacking habits and cut out hidden calories. I was eating this tasty granola for breakfast, but didn’t realize that it was loaded with calories until I tracked it on the app. Dropped that and revised my breakfast routine. Things like that.
shareNo. I find avoiding processed food and exercise is more important.
shareProbably this.
I don't exercise other than the occasional walk and live off processed food and I'm fat as hell.
Its never too late to make changes. Just set small goals and take it from there. Start going on walks everyday and cooking a few times a week. Its easy! Tonight I baked a pork tenderloin and steamed a bunch of squash. Anyone can do that!
shareI have been on a 1500 calorie diet since April 7, 2018 and have lost 132 pounds since I started.
shareWow. That's terrific. Do you eat the 1500 over three meals or do you eat smaller meals more often?
shareI eat three meals a day plus a dessert after dinner and a late night snack later if I have saved up enough calories during the day. So I eat three to five times a day and thus an average of 300 to 500 calories per serving.
shareNice.
We have been debating on if we want to switch to 6 meals a day at about 250 calories or to just enjoy 3 bigger meals at about 500 calories. We aren't actively trying to lose weight, but we do like to maintain. We try to stay between 1500-1800 a day.
To maintain a high metabolism, eat a small meal every 3 hours. Doing so keeps your glycogen and therefore your metabolism at equilibrium throughout the day, keeping you alert AND burning calories.
