Did you or would you attend your high school reunion?

We never had one until now it seems. Someone has taken the initiative and is trying to plan a 40th high school reunion for our class of 1981. I did attend my wife's 25th back in 2007 and had a good time. I was under no pressure at her reunion.

I don't know if mine even had one, I wasn't living in the same country anymore for a long time. I'm not sure I would like to anyway - my high school days felt quite dark to me. Lots of mean girls I don't think I want to meet again. Assholes basically.

reply

No, I never attended one and I don't think I would want to.

I went to one, the twenty-year one, I think. It was a bit of a mess. It was held in the main ballroom, conference room, or whatever you call it, at a rather nice hotel. The band was so loud that most folks congregated out in the hallways in order to actually talk with former classmates. This meant the hallways were very crowded (graduating class of 750). I think I saw only one or two people that I knew slightly from being in class with them. I decided that the few friends I really cared about I was already still in touch with. The rest? Meh. One reunion was enough.

MY 20 YEAR WAS THIS JUNE...NEVER EVEN CROSSED MY MIND TO ATTEND.

reply

No.

I didn't really make much friends in high school. It was an awkward time. I usually kept to myself, and was quiet. I prefer it that way. Anyway, to answer your question, no, I did not attend my 10 year reunion. I have no interest in seeing any of those people in that kind of level.

reply

I hated high school so never had any interest in attending a high school reunion. But I wouldn’t mind seeing people I went to college with.

reply

No
I never even attended any graduations and I do not appear in any yearbooks

Haha
The maudlin long goodbye thing always seemed like a bummer...when the final bell rings I'm long gone and may not be heard from again

I left my own wedding early without so much as notice or goodbye to any of the full house of guests...

There is something fine about riding off into the sunset, never to make another appearance
Cheers to new beginnings!

reply

That is impressive.

A good pal at work used to really take it personal when I would just up and leave for vacation without a parting word
and I'm very strict about my contract...the minute work ends I just get up and run out, he was an annoying dawdler...He was a bit of an 'over-sharer' but we had coffee every morning and liked the same things
I knew him for 16 years years and he retired over 20 months ago
He texted me once...a selfie on a beach just after he retired
Caption:
'Go f**k yourself!'

I still laugh to this day...he and I will likely be buried a mere 75 miles from each other but neither will know where or when...He played a great joke, I wont forget that classy guy though I'll never see him again

reply

he has a sense of humor.
