What is your max page count for books you read.

Mine is 350. Honestly more than that and you need an editor, you don't know what you want to say, or you better be Stephen King. If you've read say, 500 plus let me know the book, and if it was worth it.

reply

I have never taken any notice of page count before.

I LOVE to immerse myself in books. The longer, the better, as long as they move at an interesting pace.

The Witching Hour - Anne Rice - 976 pages. Stories within stories!
Imajica - Clive Barker - 824 pages

Two great ones that come to mind.

Also the Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson. A single story but not a single book. Fantastic!

chilone- Me too! I could "drown" in a good book. I've read "The Stand" several times and that's almost a 1000 pages. I can't even remember how many times I've reread "Gone with the Wind".

A few years ago I discovered Ken Follett and a number of his books are long, historical sagas. "Pillars of the Earth" and its sequel "World without End" are about 900 pages each. His American trilogy series totals almost 3000 pages for the three books.

Starz had an excellent series with a fine cast based on Pillars back in 2010...I never read the book but the show is worth checking out

reply

I got into Ken Follett's books because of the miniseries "World without End". I wanted to read the book and when I went to check it out of the library I discovered the Pillars book which came first. So I had to read that one first! I remember reading that it was a miniseries too. But I haven't seen it yet. It's on my list of shows to watch. (if I ever get around to it!)

reply

I hope you get to it, it was very good...Ian McShane and Eddie Redmayne are terrific in it

Over 500 pages....the Brothers Karamazov.
