What is your max page count for books you read.

Mine is 350. Honestly more than that and you need an editor, you don't know what you want to say, or you better be Stephen King. If you've read say, 500 plus let me know the book, and if it was worth it.

I don't really have a max page count if it's a book I think I'll like. In fact, I often like stories that are in multiple books because if I like a story then I want it to keep going for a while.

War and Remembrance by Herman Wouk. Hardcover it's a little over 1,000 pages. The current paperback on Amazon is 1,396 pages.

I loved the book.

I've read most of stephen king's novels. The majority at this point probably clock in at over 500 paperback pages.

It was the longest I believe. A good read, though I wouldn't reread it like I have some of Kings other books.

I tried to finish "Steve Jobs" by Walter Isaacson but it was 656 pages and had to be returned to the library. It was a really good book, but I hated the library's time limit so I didn't reserve it again.

I'm in the middle of reading the "Game of Thrones" books which are all over 500 pages. Excellent books.

reply

No max if it's well written

Where do you get that info? Some editions have tiny print. Digital books have adjustable print which changes the page count.

Not counting educational textbooks, etc., I looked up word count of novels and these were the highest I have read:

Gone With The Wind - over 418k words
Anna Karenina - 349k words
The entire Harry Potter seres - over 1M words

I searched for the titles and versions I read on Amazon. If you scroll down it gives the page count.

I don't have a cap. If it's worth reading it's worth reading. My top to date is 1138 - Stephen King's IT

reply

That's the book I couldn't finish due to it's length. I finished Stephen King's "Pet Sematary" a few months ago and that was pretty good.

reply

Pet Sematary is my favourite of his

Around the 300 mark. I tried reading an 1000+ page book but I couldn't get through it.
