Pizza!

Seems it's food night here on GD. The pizza discussion on the other thread reminded me I wanted to post this.

How often do you get pizza? Do you love it, hate it, are indifferent? When/if you do get it, do you get take-out, home delivery, eat it at a restaurant, buy frozen, or make it yourself at home?

What are your favourite toppings?

I actually crave pizza every so often. Maybe 2-3 times a year. Always get frozen because it's usually just me and I can cut however much I want and freeze the rest.

I like lots of different toppings, but usually I get either an everything on it or something lighter like mushrooms and spinach with a white sauce.

I'm not sure if I've ever had a craving for pizza. I eat it only when we have it at family gatherings and then just plain cheese pizza (digestive issues - it doesn't like me). My kids are understanding and always make sure there's a cheese pizza in the mix. Funny, the cheese pizza goes the fastest after pepperoni. Sausage is third followed by the more "robust" combinations. My grandchildren prefer pepperoni mostly.

You're lucky to not having cravings for it, but not so much with the digestive issues.

Pepperoni seems to be universally the favourite. Cheese is probably second, not just in your family.

I just ate pizza.

Now the guilt is setting in. I'm overweight. Shouldn't be eating that junk.

I'm not at all picky about my pizza. As long as it's cooked and isn't completely weird (someone mentioned tuna here - whatever), I'll probably enjoy it. Pizza Hut, Dominos, no problem. And I like and support Little Caesars (Detroit connection). But the ONE pizza I truly detest is Papa John's. I don't know how they came up with that recipe but it is tasteless and listless. I've had some when it was free and I didn't want it to go to waste, but every time I taste that stuff I wonder how they have gotten away with this for so long.

I would totally try that tuna pizza!

The chain pizza places all sort of meld into one in my mind. I know I've had Pizza Hut, Dominos, Little Caesar's, but don't think we have a Papa Johns here. The only one I'm sure of was the last delivery pizza I had which was Dominos. It was fine. Not great but totally decent pizza.

Come to think of it, most of the times I've had eat-in pizza were at a local family-owned pizzerias.

Pizza is a favourite of mine. I don't get/order pizza that often, maybe every other month, but I like to make pizza myself almost every weekend.

Today I made two pizzas. The toppings were: mozzarella, blue cheese, feta, cherry tomatos and jalapenos. The other one has: mozzarella, tuna, blue cheese and pineapple.

I like tuna and I wouldn't turn it down on an experimental pizza, but at first glance it sounds a bit funky. Tuna has a very certain character and I've never heard of it on pizza. But someone here complained about pineapple, so who knows?

I guess I have pizza once or twice a week. Pineapple/mushroom has become my special topping combo. Pepperoni is good as well.
