What are you all listening to?
I've got Tom Petty going here
The guy was a boss!
You?
The older I get the more I find myself listening to classical music, mostly Baroque.
Still love Billboard Hot 100 hits from the 70s and 80s.
I love the Billboard hits from the 70s-80s...that's right in my comfort zone!
I admit I don't know anything about Baroque music...I should check that out
Here's something for starters
Sarah Chang, Vivaldi The Four Seasons "Summer" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8DYQ2ptE94
I was first introduced to Vivaldi in the movie The Four Seasons (1981), and I have a CD with Vivaldi's Four Seasons on it.

I remember this from when I was a pre-teen. There's gravitas in that accent, and I think it's the only time the words
"Polevetsian Dance No. 2 by Borodin" has ever been uttered on television :) It used to be that the average home had some classical music, just like in an earlier era there would be a piano. I can't imagine a commercial like this today.

It's nice when folks are introduced to new things in this way. It's gratifying when the curious person uses it as a way to explore things outside their "comfort zone."
shareIsn’t Classical technically different than Baroque?
I used to like to listen to the Mozart Requiem years ago.
Yes, but. Baroque "is a period or style of Western art music composed from approximately 1600 to 1750. This era followed the Renaissance music era, and was followed in turn by the Classical era." Technically (and this is easy to look up so I'm no expert) Classical refers to the Classical Period which is "between roughly 1730 and 1820."
However, in popular terminology, Classical refers to everything from the Renaissance to present-day contemporary classical music. But I personally never refer to Renaissance music as classical, referring to it by its name. Early Baroque music my not sound familiar, but at a certain point everyone would say, "That's classical music."
they are meant to my understanding as periods of time
like right now we are romantics or in the 1900's we were more romantics

Bach dreamed about getting 8 million views.
sharePersonally I like music that is fixed.
Seriously, I have always liked classical music, but now I will seek it out rather than just put up with it when I hear it. It's called classical for a reason.
I find popular music kind of irritating, but mostly because of inane lyrics and cheapness to it.
Same with jazz though too, and as well World or Folk music. Popular music of today is such a disappointment.
This moment some Glorious Sons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUVDmVM9RtA

shareI don't believe I've ever heard this song before but it was very nice...very romantic even
The romantic and protective lyrics really ring true for me...my Lady requires no protection but yet I keep an eye on her at all times
I'm violently protective of my woman and yet in the song the guy starts to realize his girl can party and dance and be free...She does her thing and owns it
I'm probably a bit of a caveman but thanks for the song, it was pretty sweet and cool, possibly enlightening even
Obliged Laura
Johnny Cash
