I had friends at school who ended up being homeschooled for a period of time.

I didn't, but it depends on when a person was growing up. I think homeschooling is more popular now than it used to be.

We had some homeschoolers in town growing up. Some were mutants, others went on to be huge success in life. Pretty even split, just like school.

Yes, a fair few. To the point that I could tell if someone was home-schooled just by talking to them for a few minutes. There was something slightly eerie about the home-schooled kids I met as a child.
