Summer is depressing.

I hate Summer. I hate everything about it. I hate the sun and how it creates certain shadows and changes over the day. I hate morning sun, noon sun and evening sun. I hate people making noise down the street. I hate the smell of garbage, barbecues, and car exhaust. I hate how it doesn't get dark until late. Honestly, every time Summer comes around, I feel like I want to cry. I'm seriously dreading when Summer starts in late June. Being from a country with a cold climate, I welcome snow and blizzards. Winter can't come soon enough.

I don't hate Summer but, I don't like Summer weather. It's just too hot and it heats up my car and I get really sweaty and uncomfortable during the day. My husband and I live in one of the hottest cities in California. Temps can reach to around 106 to 117 degrees which makes the days feel absolutely miserable. My hair and clothes get sweaty and I am a very clean girl and shower often and I'm always washing my hair too. Plus the heat makes me feel extremely tired and zaps all my energy. It totally sucks!!!!!

I couldn't get enough of summer weather when I was a kid. I loved it HOT! When I hit menopause, summer became hell. I had my own "personal summer" going with hot flashes even in the dead of winter. When it was 95 degrees, a hot flash felt like I was sitting next to a furnace.

Summer used to be fun. Now the heat just makes me nauseous. Oh to be a carefree kid again.

On a positive note, I love the way it looks in the summer with the bright sky and green trees and flowers.

reply

I miss being kid too. Not having any work commitments or paying bills and stressing about money. Being a kid was the best!!!

reply

As someone from California, would you want a snowy Winter every year?

reply

Our winters can be somewhat warm sometimes but when we occasionally have cold weather, it feels nice.

reply

I don't like high heat, so that part of summer sucks for me. Hate feeling drained, and sweaty.

But I do love how the summer sun creates specific-coloured shadows and changes throughout the day, and totally love it staying light out until 8:30 PM!

Sorry summer's heading your way in about a month. Enjoy the heck out of the milder May weather while it's still here.

We've been lucky so far this year. It's unusually colder, overcast, and with some rain for this location this year. I love it!

The humidity is awful. And nothing is worse than trying to fall asleep when it's hot. I find it strange when people say they love the fresh Summer air. I don't think it's fresh at all. That's where you can smell everything because people are outside more driving cars, lighting up their barbecues, starting up their lawnmowers... The freshest air is in the Winter.

reply

Luckily we don't have too much humidity here. I've been to Florida, and know I do *not* like humidity.

But it can get hot enough that it's hard to go to sleep some nights.

Spring is my favourite season. Not too hot, not too cold, the air is fresh, and everything's green and beautiful. Plus flowers blooming and everything feels so alive!

reply

Strangely, I don't mind Spring too much. It's warm, but still get some of that leftover Winter weather.

reply

Strange opinion for a Samoan.

reply

If I was Samoan, I would go crazy with that weather all year 'round.

reply

The only season I can stand now as an adult is Fall. Give me mid September to October 31 all day every day. The rest of the year sucks, ha.

reply

I don't like Fall either. It doesn't know if it's hot or cold. And this might sound strange, but the there's a weirdness about the air.

reply

Is there anything you do like, sam-joe?☹

reply

Winter. All day, everyday!

reply

I love autumn as well. It's my favourite season.

reply

Sorry you feel this way Joe
Maybe try hiking, canoeing or fishing this summer..?
They are fun activities, fairly inexpensive and pretty healthy for you too!

And don't despair, winter is always right around the corner buddy😉

reply

All those would require me to be outside in that god-awful Summer sun. I'm boarding up my windows and trapping myself indoors.

reply

See you in September👍

reply

I'm the total opposite - I feel the same way about Winter and Autumn/Fall!

Those are the seasons that get me depressed and dreading them. I love summer - everything about it makes me feel better in every way, even when it's too hot. I associate it with good times and feeling functional, while winter makes me feel like nothing's worth anything.

reply

I hear most people feel the most depressed during Winter. I'm definitely in the minority.

reply

I hear they’re hiring in Alaska.

reply

😅 Succinctly said!

reply

I'd prefer Antarctica.

reply

Well, OK then. You’ll escape the humongous mosquitoes!

reply

Good one, Andy.

Winter sucks. The world is DEAD.

reply

Where’s a facepalm emoji when you need one, lol.

reply

Maybe 😫+✋ as a workaround.

reply

Ever been checked for depression?

reply

No. But I'm aware seasonal depression is a thing.
