Not a whole song just certain powerful lyrics that you like or mean something to you.

Sometimes the song my just ok but certain lyrics say something to you.

This lyric for me shows what the love of a family can do.

"Always remember there was nothing worth sharing
Like the love that let us share our name "

What are some of your favorite lyrics?

"They say a legal kiss is not as good as a stolen one.
We put our lives on show and yet we sing to a different song.
And from the bassinet to the graveside we never woke.
Of everything I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
"

reply

I know I've heard this song.
Slow song right?

reply

Slow song right?

Most definitely, godeway.

Great song.

Peace

And in the end, we shall achieve in time
The thing they call divine
And all the stars will smile for me
When all is well and well is all for all
And forever after

reply

Life is full of sweet mistakes
And love's an honest one to make
Time leaves no fruit on the tree

But you're gonna live forever in me
I guarantee, it's just meant to be.

And when the pastor asks the pews
For reasons he can't marry you
I'll keep my word in my seat

But you're gonna live forever in me
I guarantee, just wait and see.

I'm the man who won..."

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move
But I can't hear what you're saying

When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like
Two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain
You would not understand
This is not how I am

I... Have become comfortably numb

O. K.
Just a little pin prick
There'll be no more aaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick

Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working
Good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on
It's time to go

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move
But I can't hear what you're saying

When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye

I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
I... Have become comfortably numb

reply

hello hello is there anybody in there
Is there anybody home
just nod if you can hear me

reply

"I'll fly a starship
Across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain

And I'll be back again and again and again and again and again"

Great song !

reply

It's a direct repudiation of the death cycle written by Jimmy Webb. It's the principle of ~timshel~ {thou mayest}---that (we) have the right to "remain," to choose good from evil...we are not bound.

& that's a good one, Kid. Try this effort by Glen Campbell...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaeGfMeSKX0

reply

Thanks for the link, Culburn. I had not seen nor heard Glen Campbell do that one before.

Meanwhile, here's another song whose lyrics I love. I have no favorite part of it, so here's the entire thing.

The Last Chance Texaco
by Rickie Lee Jones

A long stretch of headlights
Bends into I-9
They tiptoe into truck stops
And sleepy diesel eyes
Volcanoes rumble in the taxi
And glow in the dark
Camel's in the driver's seat
A slow, easy mark

But you ran out of gas
Down the road a piece
Then the battery went dead
And now the cable won't reach ...

It's your last chance
To check under the hood
Last chance
She ain't soundin' too good,
Your last chance
To trust the man with the star
You've found the last chance Texaco
The last chance

Well he tried to be Standard
He tried to be Mobil
He tried living in a world
And in a Shell
There was this block-busted blonde
And he loved her -- free parts and labor
But she broke down and died
She threw all the rods that he gave her

But this one ain't fuel-injected
Her plug's disconnected
She gets scared and she stalls
She just needs a man, that's all

It's her last chance
Her timing's all wrong
Her last chance
She can't idle this long
Her last chance
Turn her over and go
Pullin' out of the last chance Texaco
The last chance

Here's a fan-made video of the song which I think is quite well done ...

Glen Campbell singing about Alzheimer's disease.
His last song.

I'm never gonna hold you like I did
Or say I love you to the kids
You're never gonna see it in my eyes
It's not gonna hurt me when you cry

I'm never gonna know what you go through
All the things I say or do
All the hurt and all the pain
One thing selfishly remains

I'm not gonna miss you

reply

Grand find, god.

Thank you, for bringing it forth, fellow.

reply

This came on my ipod earlier and couldn't believe I didn't already post it.
I've talked about this song many times around here.

About has poignant as it gets in this life.

reply

Unicorns and cannonballs, palaces and piers
Trumpets, towers and tenements
Wide oceans full of tears
Flags, rags ferryboats
Scimitars and scarves
Every precious dream and vision
Underneath the stars,
yes, you climbed on the ladder
With the wind in your sails
You came like a comet
Blazing your trail too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon

reply

The Waterboys?
I love these guys.

reply

I only like this one song of theirs. It's a beauty though!

reply

I love the Fisherman's Blues.

I'm just so happy that anybody even heard of this song or this group.
The first person I've ever talked to that has.

Doing music in the 80's that wasn't necessarily 80's music.
Well done my friend!

reply

The song was a pretty big hit in Australia and got a lot of air play. It had a profound effect on me at the time.

reply

They didn't get much air play in the US if any.
I keep forgetting there are other countries in the world!

reply

Lol! USA! USA! USA!

reply

LoL!

I only say it because it's so true.
We're the worst aren't we!

reply

You guys are ok. My entire life has been influenced by you

reply

Now you're just being kind.
I'll say thank you.
Like I actually had something to do with it.

That's the mark of a true american.
Take credit for everything!

reply

It's true. You're the home of rock'n'roll and some of the greatest films of all time
