We're having a πŸ”₯🌊

I don't know what happened to spring, but summer is here. Starting tomorrow we're in for at least five days of temps at or above 90Β°F with the bonus accompaniment of high humidity. Oh joy, oh rapture.

I'm not ready for this yet. No AC for me. 😬

It feels like just yesterday that I was trying to console you over late season snows and icy temps. If it makes you feel any better, we are having similar weather wackiness in my neck of the woods (the Northeast). We're on track for 7 days of 85+ degree temps for the month of May. This, after one of the coldest Aprils ever. Weird stuff indeed.

reply

I know! Crazy, just crazy.

I don't know what happened with my post from a few minutes ago, the one with πŸ”₯🌊 in the title, but when I tried to click on it again it says the page can't be reached - "This page isn't working. moviechat.org redirected you too many times. Try clearing your cookies." Do you see anything when you click on it? Just curious.

reply

no access was allowed for some reason

reply

Nope, I tried right after you posted it, but couldn't get in. Same thing, too many redirects.

reply

I've seen this before. Apparently, a thread title that only contains emojis throws an error.

reply

I wondered if that might be the case. Thanks! I'll stop throwing.

reply

Lol! I think you also found the solution -- just add some text.

reply

Actually, I intended to add text to the first one but accidentally hit 'post' before I meant to.

reply

Jack they really should give you a job here! You know all sorts of gadgety techy stuff...could have used your knowledge when doing my video!πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

reply

From the looks of it, you don't need any help. Very impressive stuff, my friend!

As a fellow TLJ hater, I'm curious -- do you intend to see Solo while it's in theaters?

reply

Got a ticket to deadpool just burning a whole in my pocket...to use tomorrow for soloπŸ˜‰ have yet to miss a premier...gonna see this wreck through nine...but money? The mouse can suck it! Looking forward to Chewbacca...thats about it!
Have forgotten three times today that I Have a Star wars flick to see tomorrow...that's really sadπŸ‘Ž

Thanks for your kind words jack!

reply

I'm a Ron Howard fan, and the second trailer looked really good, but the early reviews make it seem like Han is like a "special guest star" in what is supposed to be HIS movie...anyway please let us know what you think afterwards. And get crackin on your next video!

reply

I too like ron...solid director! Really don't like the choice for han...Will definitely post a review here! Next vid...gotta choose a subject...would like to do something with stonekeeper...or twinA! Would also like to have members here on my channel...like sports night with captainbucky or old movie reviews with theshogunofyonkers...tech talk with texasjack...that kind of thing. There are like a billion people watching youtube...we could use some traffic...that's why I always include MC....GREAT site that more people need to know about!

reply

I thought your other thread was about your drinking some Mike's tonight πŸ˜ƒ

How strange that it went from an unnaturally long winter, straight into the height of summer for you! You have my sympathies.

Last year, for us, it was HOT starting in March. This year it's rained twice in May (unheard of) and I've had to turn the space heater on almost every day.

reply

Space heater in southern CA in May?? Wow.

reply

I know, crazy. Space heater currently turned on, *and* while it was a beautiful and sunny day (nice change from the overcast we've been having), now that the sun's setting it's gotten so chilly I changed to warm warmup pants and top.

How are you faring over there today?

reply

Hot and humid, although the humidity wasn't as bad as I was expecting. We made it to 91Β° today. Saturday and Sunday should be about the same. Memorial Day - 94Β°!! We can't complain though. We've had Memorial weekends that barely made 50Β° so this is a lot better. The lakes are still horribly cold, though. Ice out on one of our most popular lakes happened on May 11, just a couple of weeks ago.

reply

Happy to hear the humidity was lower than you'd expected, but holy crow, 91, and 94 Monday! Is this a new record high for your area?

So strange that it's very hot, yet not long ago there was ice on a nearby lake.

But, if you're more or less enjoying it, or it's better than barely cracking 50, then it's not so bad.

Today was sunny and a bit warmer here. Only turned on the space heater once!

reply

Yes, temps still trending upward. By Tuesday they say it'll be 'only' 88. I don't know if this is record heat or not, but it is unusual to get 90s in May. It's more normal to see them in July and August. For the next few days I'll be πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ in πŸ’§πŸ’§ (that's swimming in sweat).

reply

Another hot one here in Toronto. Spent all day down on Lake Ontario where it was much cooler.

reply

I'll bet you're looking forward to Tuesday! 88 is still hot, but tolerable.

I hope you have a good AC. Tomorrow that nearly icy lake may sound very tempting!

It's the same here, the really hot days come in July, but it's through September.

Today it's warm enough to open up all the doors and let some fresh air in.

reply

I don't have AC in my house. Today wasn't too bad either. Midday we had clouds, wind, and a few rain showers. Just having the clouds for a while kept the temp a bit lower, at least for a while. Excuse me while I get rid of that pesky June bug that keeps attacking my window screen.

reply

I don't either, but I assumed most everyone who lives where it gets very hot and humid in the summertime does. How do you cool off? Fans? Stand in front of the fridge or freezer doors? Not that I've ever done that πŸ˜‡

Good to hear it's cooling off. Maybe it won't even reach 94 tomorrow πŸ™Œ

reply

Yes, I have fans. When it's bad I try to not do as much. And if there are things I need to do around the house, I drape a wet dish towel around my neck. It works surprisingly well. I don't mind a couple of hot days here and there, but string together 4, 5, 6 days in a row and it's energy-draining. My previous home had AC, but I hardly ever used it. I'm a fresh-air fiend. I like having the windows open as much as feasible.

reply

I like mikes !

reply

I've heard Mike's likes you too!

reply

Oh he’s a fine fellow

reply

Nutty weather for sure! Was in Ohio in april...snow. Now the word is it's semi drought...nuts!

reply

Actually, I think they're forecasting drought conditions this summer for my area.

reply

Hate drought! Dry grass messes with my breathing😠 just be an allegy. Also is hard on my gardening...πŸ’©

reply

The only good thing about drought is you don't have to mow the lawn as often. πŸ˜‰ (I let Mother nature water my lawn.)

reply

But I like to mow my lawn😲 but I'll get over itπŸ˜‰

reply

I have a brother like you - loves to mow.

reply

Very satisfying task...defined beginning middle and end...looks better than when you began...easy maintenance...what could be better?

reply

Same here

reply

Same here! Loving it

reply

Where I live, I'm lucky if I see 60F at the height of summer, and 70 is almost unheard of. I envy those of you with your heat waves.

reply

Wheres that? if you dont mind me asking. I'm in north of England , we usually see a few days 70+ but not many. Its about 70 now actually.

reply

It's 90 degrees here today and for the next few days. We ate outside tonight and the A/C may have to be turned on at some point. Way too early. We are headed for the TV room in the basement where it is relatively cool.

reply

Just turn on the A/C already.
A couple days won't matter.

reply

it is a first world problem.

reply

Ha.
I had to turn mine last night.
My meds kicked in last night and when I went to bed it still almost 80 at 10:30 or 11:00.
Had to go outside to take the cover off of my condenser.
Way too hot to sleep comfortably.

reply

I turned it on. I am always relieved that it works after being idle all winter.

reply

I'm the exact same way.
After I turned it on last night I went to nearest vent and and put my
hand over it to make it's cool air coming out.

You won't regret your decision.

reply

I just brought my three window fans up from the cellar. Had them for years and they really do help. It has finally cooled to the upper 70s so they're bringing that inside. I haven't melted yet!

reply

Window fans do help.
Not when it's still that hot outside!
Go to your neighbors and be comfortable.
Maybe they have some good ice cream in the freezer!

reply

I doubt there's ice cream over there. Mrs Neighbor joined Weight Watchers a couple of weeks ago.

reply

Uggggg.
Who joins weight watchers during the summer?
She's just the worst.

reply

Well, Mrs Neighbor does. 😏

reply

I'm sure shes's a good person who just happens to NOT have ice cream. 🍦

reply

I'll sneak over there tomorrow and scope it out. πŸ‘€

reply

Me too.

reply

My neighbors are heading up north for the weekend. Once again, they told me I can stay at their house if the heat gets to me. They are the BEST! Oh, it's because they have AC and I don't.

reply

It was only about a month ago we got about 6" of snow. North of us got over 15".
Then nothing but rain For 4 weeks and tornadoes. Now this.
Don't even get me started on the mosquitoes already.

It can't last forever.
Or can it? 😬

reply

That sounds about right for around here, too. Our last snowstorm graced us with nearly a foot of the white stuff. Crazy weather, I must say. Keeps me on my πŸ‘£toes!

reply

You have bad mosquitoes too?

reply

Yes, we jokingly say the mosquito is our state bird.

reply

We say the same thing!
They're a little early this year.
I'm not sure what that means but I don't want to find out.

reply

The June bugs are here, too. Apparently they can't read a calendar. They're just creepy.

reply

Haven't seen any June bugs yet.

When we were kids we get a tube and put a June bug in it.
Then two people would blow into each end.
Loser ended up with a mouthful of June bug.
Ahhhh, the good old days.

reply

Yuck! You'd never get me to play that game.

reply

After a few Mike's we could talk you into it.
