Movie Challenge Y'all!!!

Think of a movie you love and post some dialogue...

Offer a hint as to the context, the lighting or soundtrack, describe a scene...
Other posters have to figure out the movie
I will start:
A few dudes are going fishing...
'Were going to need a bigger boat'

A lounge comedian is performing his act with a "dead" patron in this "deadly" comedy...

Comedian: How'd ya die?
Arthur: I was in a coma.
Comedian: I'm sorry. How long were you in the coma?
Arthur: I really don't know.
Comedian: Let's play a game, Art. Elvis: living or dead?
Arthur: Living.
Comedian: Long coma, Art. Long coma.

reply

The King of Comedy

Robert DeNiro...
A half-assed guess

reply

No, but, that's a fine film.

This movie has a cameo by Shirley MacLaine...when a walk on character see's her image she says loudly..."Oh, my God!"

reply

At the end of this film the 3 judges confer as the ending plays out on their video screen...After conferring the lead judge presses the intercom and gives this order:::"Let him go."

reply

I'll lodge 3 characters in this most excellent late '60's western...

Whittier: A town that collects losers, will exist for their lifetime, no more.
Johnny Cobb: Losers?
Whittier: Losers. Yes, Johnny. Take Arthur, for a simpleton that he is, six years ago he drifted in here not even knowing what his last name was. But, he still had the mental capacity to recognize a town that he wouldn't have to compete in.

From a mid-70's coming of age film...with dire consequences for an act that took place in the plot...

Dewey Barksdale: That night... I tried to tell Billy ___ that it would never happen again between us.
Bobbie Lee Hartley: I guess he didn't believe you.

reply

Ode to Billy Joe

reply

Yep. That one kinda sticks with you. He's loitering the girly tent at one point, then the scene cuts away.

Damn old "Roscoe P. Coltrain" touched his no-no secret place.

reply

Yeah, I recognized it instantly.

reply

Here's one-mid '90's release & a darkish comedy. It's usually hated OR loved. It languished on the shelf for a while as they fought over it.

[[[Martin Daniels: If you even look at me wrong. If you do one thing that I find weird, which is, you know, like, your middle name... See? You're doing it right now. Can you just act like a human boy for one minute here? Look at me like a person! You can't do it for more than a few seconds. Look at me like a human boy!]]]

reply

Cliford?

reply

Yep! Great movie till they get to the amusement park.

reply

Indeed,😂

reply

" This is The West, sir. When a legend becomes fact...print the legend. "

reply

- "The Editor"

- "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance"

reply

Yes sir. A great line !

reply

I've thought about "Valance" a lot and how he lived so long among that region without being challenged and killed by "Tom." But, "Tom" isn't a killer. The death of "Valance" shocks the community, only the drunken doctor celebrates, some of the Mexicans sing, some are reverent. Everybody else is in shock at least.

"Tom" is never the same. The killing, perhaps even a murder is on him. Only he knows it and it ruins him. He finally recognizes that he's lost Vera Miles to Stewart. He feared it, but, he was too cock sure, too stubborn to act upon his fears and secure her. Finally at the convention he clears his conscience and his spleen. But, there is no relief even then. He falls into melancholy and alcohol and never recovers.

This movie was made in the greatest year Hollywood has ever achieved.

A little girl, once of means, but, now a waif who walks the streets & hospital wards searching for her father, a soldier who is MIA. She locates him, he's wheel chair bound & catatonic. He does not recognize his daughter. In distress and running out of time as the authorities are closing in on her she berates this man, her father, scolds him, even smacks him about even. Glory be. Yes, I said glory be, her father comes around---recognizes her, his bandaged head has cleared. Readily the closing scene is next. The Queen of England rolls thru the hospital ward in her wheel chair. This child's father rises from his chair in salute as "God Save The Queen" plays in the background. This little girl pantomimes to the "Queen" that this is her father, he has been found.

reply

The Little Princess.

reply

Yep!

reply

That's pretty much the only scene I remember!😁

reply

3-THREE-3 quotes from a very quotable movie:::The movie involves a worm, a knish and a KGB member.

"Like Papa Wallenda said: 'Life is on the wire. Everything else is just waiting.'"

"You've been rollin' fags in the Village again, haven't you?"

"Hey, Sarge, we caught a hanger."

reply

Sheriff : " What did you put in that report ? "
: " Just the date, and I gave a cause of accidental death. Why ? "
Sheriff : " The report the FBI men in Washington got was that Normand killed himself by jumping out of a window , and they picked it up the day before it really happened. "

From a movie hauntingly ahead of its time - appeared briefly in theaters before going to TV.
Not a great movie , but very interesting considering the time period and in light of what is happening today (jmho).

Plus , an actor and an actress I have admired and enjoyed

reply

Day of the Wolves? Is it an obscure movie?

reply

It came on one of my movie channels last weekend - I had never even heard of it. However , as I stated in my post, it was a pleasant surprise - while it was obscure and not a really good movie , it was interesting and a very intriguing movie with a clever plot, especially considering it was made in the 70's

reply

Wow!
I was stumped here

Nice work!
