"Guilty." "Guilty." "Guilty."

3-three-3 insurrectionists are bound by precision "hula hoops."

2 men
1 woman

Aside from treason the woman has also been after the children of this planet.

The leader of the insurrection: "The vote must be unanimous." This actor had been hung in a 1962 film title bearing only his character's full name.

This actor's last name also is a form of monetary worth. It increases in cost & value just about every year now though the cost can be frozen forever is we so choose.

Superman

That's it!

Big BIG deal when it broke. I was there in line waiting opening night.

Then we vacationed in NYC a couple years later and were jazzed to ride the subway, get a feel for that location and that damn movie.

It's where James Remar made his bones.

The baseball furies were the best gang.
My wife thought the gang leader of the ones they fought in the can was cute. LOL.

& there close to the end the two cross paths with the up tick prom goers. "She" closes her eyes & they're gone when she reopens. Like it never happened.

& the book! I God's I've tried that damn things a few times---it's just unreadable.

reply

One of the greats for sure
I never tried the book

reply

It's almost kind of mind-boggling of how often I still see that being re-run on various channels. Sundance especially, seems to have a love affair with it.

" Can ..you...dig it ? "

reply

Well, the violence is more perceived than actual. Even when it initially broke any critic worth a damn acknowledged the "cartoon violence." So, it's suitable for television.

But, you know, it's not aged as well as I'd like. It drags a bit here & there, like "Escape From New York" hasn't aged too well. What do you think about that, db? Do you agree, or, am I full of shit here?

reply

I do agree that "it drags a bit here and there " but as for comparing it to Escape From New York, I can't really comment. It's been too long since I've rewatched that. I think its continued popularity is attributed to its cult following.

reply

His son: "Did you love her, Champ?"

His father: "Of course I did. How do you think we had you?"

reply

The Champ

reply

Yep.

The stable scene where Voight & Dunaway finally face their demons. "What is it, Billy?" It's there that we appreciate the production making more of this film than just this child. "The Champ" confesses everything-even to loving her still, will give her another chance. The scene takes place in a torrential Florida down pour, a billions tears falling.

She's devastated, but, comes to him, hits her knees so that he is above her now---she touches him so beautifully, so intimately, and speaks of love to him, but she will not return.

I love it so.

Film. American film.

reply

Awesome movie , a real tear jerker.

and Schroder , unlike other child actors grew up to still be a very good actor

reply

It WAS very sad😭
I only saw it once...that was enough

reply

Yep, the death scene. It's "Preacher" from "The Hustler" who's manning the door when Dunaway comes thru. He's removed his hat and the look on his face is so alarming. Zeffirelli catches "Georgie"\Elisha Cook Jr. with his back to the camera as he retreats into the corner and a small stool burying his face in his open hands. A direct hit by Zeffirelli.

The boy's wails as he comes into his mother's arms. She'd come back not so much for the boy, but, for "Billy." To celebrate his victory. The denouement she discovers there is raw as she cries first for "Billy."

The boy would have ended up with her and "Mike" the great actor Arthur Hill, but, "Mike" is a good man---"Billy" would have been welcome there. The production played "Mike" well. He was genuinely fearful that he'd lose "Annie" back to "Billy" but, he resisted the impulse to interfere and instead let it play out. He was good hearted soul.

Franco Zeffirelli
