Movie Challenge Y'all!!!

Think of a movie you love and post some dialogue...

Offer a hint as to the context, the lighting or soundtrack, describe a scene...
Other posters have to figure out the movie
I will start:
A few dudes are going fishing...
'Were going to need a bigger boat'

reply

"Hello? Please, the upside down prisoner needs to use the bathroom."

This film supposedly led to bad health & subsequent death of it's creator.

reply

The Conqueror
John wayne
1956

They all got cancer from the location..?

reply

No, I'm referring to "Year One" with Jack Black & Michael Cera. It's Cera's line.

---I was dead wrong on the 2nd line of my post. My apologies.---

reply

A movie about privileged crybabies
Directed by Schulmacher...

'You break my heart
Then again you break everyones heart'

reply

I know it's not Citizen Kane.

Phantom of the Opera (2004)?

reply

Sorry no
Culburn got it

reply

Culburn's sharp as a movie critic, like Roger Ebert, in a good way.

reply

Culburn's smart and acts classy

Same with HodWatt, Pete Rose, Daddyo and you TwinA

We seem to be getting lucky with newer posters of late...i hope you all hang out for a good long while

You are fine additions to our club

reply

I'm glad you feel that way about us. There's a lot of good content here. I've been thinking of making my own thread, trying to figure out what it will be about. My perfectionism is stopping me.

reply

Perfectionism is grand...im the same way
However when you get stuck just start slinging out posts...most of them wont stick but who cares?

Its content and humor that is most dear to us here buddy

Go for it and ill respond like crazy
Promise!

reply

Remember, we go for silly around here, too!

reply

Who can forget your 'Sexy Chickens' thread?!

Believe me, I am tempted to out do that one "\_'(^+^)'_/"

reply

Go for it!
I love the film talk but silly might be best!

reply

I'll take it slow for now, never rush perfection - or pure %%InSanitY^!1!

reply

"Kind words, "Ethan" - Yonk. Thank ya, kindly."

It's a grand group here.

reply

I got it. Demi Moore to Rob Lowe - "St. Elmo's Fire"

reply

Indeed!

reply

You are very passionate about movies and I enjoy reading your detailed summaries on them. Keep it up!

reply

Thank you, A.

Will do.

reply

Character 1: "He has his head up his ass."

Character 2: "Maybe he likes the view."

reply

Die Hard

reply

No. But, the quote just below comes from the same movie.

reply

Saving Private Ryan?

reply

No.

This movie contains a quick moment when one Character sees another Character make the sign of the cross and smiles about it.

This movie signifies an ALMOST imperceptible drop of red wine.

reply

Face/Off?

Hope you don't mind if I keep trying, I don't give up.

reply

No. & I don't mind at all. You may kick yourself though when you finally know.

"Hey, Stosh. I said no."

reply

Is it one of the James Bond movies?

reply

No.

"Not enough bullets. We need more bullets."

reply

deer hunter ???

reply

Yep!

reply

"I fixed him up a million times! I don't know how many times I must have fixed him up with girls!'

reply

"We're gonna need some more FBI guys, I guess."

reply

Oh thats gotta be Die Hard!

reply

Yep, the late & great Paul Gleason. He did a super job there.

reply

Yeah he was great!
He was 'that guy' in tons of movies

reply

I caught him in the background of a scene of a "Gomer Pyle." It's non credited/non speaking, but, they show him off a couple times in the scene.

He's tops as well in "Miami Blues."

reply

Nice catch!
I call actors like him 'that guy' because they rarely become a household name but they are great supporting roll/quirky types

Steve Buschemi was a 'that guy' for a time but his genuinely interesting
looks and skills eventually made him a real big star

I love the 'that guy' actors...
Seems this might be a wortwhile thread in and of itself!

reply

Grand take on Buschemi. A direct hit, Yonk.

reply

An obscure early 70s heist movie bearing a storyline similar to 'Reservoir Dogs.' All the antagonists have beards during most of the film. It was the first movie to be made on location in then new town of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The protagonist is a recently fired former small town sheriff.

No. 4: My name is Arnold - Mike Arnold. But last week I was known by the number 4. None of us had names, just numbers.
The Inspector: Who is the leader?
No. 4: [incredulously] He was number 1.

[hint] Lead actor was top billed in 'Love Me Tender' with a third billed Elvis Presley.

reply

I immediately thought Robert Mitchum '...Eddie Coyle'
But Lake Havasu??? Im stumped and i havent seen many Elvis movies tbh

Walking Tall?
Total (probably awful) guess...

reply

Like most trivia game shows, the Lake Havasu info does not really matter. It's there to distract. Not too far off on the year: 1971.

[hint 2] Title of the movie starts with: "Day of -"

reply

[hint 3]

It's time for a game of 'Funny You Should Ask!' We're going to play the made up game of 'Guess that Movie.' There are 3 choices, one of which is correct.

a) Day of the Wolves

b) Day of the Alligators

Or what's the third option, Jon Lovitz?

Lovitz: Day of the Giant White Yeti Crabs that Lobbed My Big Right Toe Clean Off

What's the correct answer, for $5,000 (drum roll)...

reply

Uggh!
Im defeated here...like that robber in Dirty Harry...

'I gots ta' know!'

reply

Day of the Wolves.

If you can get past the slow pace of the first half of the movie and apparent lack of quality restoration for a TV movie production from its era, being stuck in the 70s, it is a surprisingly slick movie with a lot of gripping commentary still relevant today. It has a very good soundtrack, and the ending leaves you with a lasting impression.

reply

Dang!
You cleaned my clock with that one
Never heard of it but it sounds cool

Thx man...i do believe you just kicked my ass lol!!

reply

Anytime, friend, anytime.

I'm sure one of these days I'll be on the other end of the stick! "\_(^+^)_/"

reply

Nah...you have been wiping the floor with me since you showed up!

Still glad i met you😉

reply

Aftermath of a famous Range War :

" Wrong , Mr. Pepper. Because no matter where people go , sooner or later there's the law. And sooner or later they find God's already been there.

reply

Tombstone?

reply

No , an older movie

reply

High Noon?

reply

nope

reply

I know it's not "Open Range" but is it, tex?

reply

No

reply

Wrong answer (and I’m the wrong Tex) but I cannot pass up the chance to say: awesome movie!

reply

This is John Wayne in Chisum

reply

righto , hownos - my favorite quote from the movie

Two legends , Ben Johnson and the Duke

reply

Geronimo: An American Legend? (I see it's solved)

reply

Why are all db20db's messages deleted?

reply

I really cant speak to that...was a bit curious myself
I have a very fun exchange with him a couple of times a week...i really like him and thought he was splitting
Happy to report he is alive and well...and STILL as mean as ever😀
