What's Your Favorite....

concert you'eve ever been to?

I've been to hundreds and still go to about 30-40 a year.

I keep going back to a concert in Phoenix 30 years ago.
Aerosmith opening for the Scorpions.
8 bands all day long in the desert.
People were passing out and 9 months later there are people out there
who were conceived at this concert.
It held 15,000 people but almost 40,000 tickets were sold.
It was insane! After this concert Phoenix changed it's laws regarding capacity.
I didn't leave the parking lot until 6 am. I had to be at work 90 miles away
at 6:30.

My first concert is also special to me.
I saw KISS when I was about 10 years old.

Jeff Buckley in Chicago shortly before he died.

What are your favorite concerts?

reply

2003 Concert for Toronto. A once in a lifetime event

Stones
AC/DC
Rush
Guess Who

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molson_Canadian_Rocks_for_Toronto

reply

WOW!

That is epic.
That trumps my seeing Guns N' Roses at the Whisky by a long shot.
And to think you remember it all cuz you weren't drunk.

reply

You would have loved it, drunk or sober. Too bad it took SARS to have such an event.

reply

It is too bad but damn, dude.

I've never seen the Stones or the Guess Who.
I couldn't even imagine them all together.

reply

Randy Bachman played the Taking Care of Business riff with a drum stick.

reply

Well of course he did.

Just keep rubbing it in.

Van Halen 5150 tour, July 28, 1986, Meadowlands NJ

Me: a 14 year-old neophyte guitarist sitting in the front row on Eddie's side of the stage.

Never beat that one.

reply

I was lucky enough to see them in 78 I think and on their 1984 tour.
When Dave was still around.
A lot happened between that tour and this one.

One of the best ever.

reply

I like both versions of the band pretty equally. Dave was the better showman and had a unique voice that worked perfectly for their material, but Sammy could really belt it out and sing stuff that Dave could never even attempt.

reply

I've seen the Sammy version.
I was so heartbroken when they broke up.
Some people have Kennedy I remember where I was when Van Halen broke up.

I do love some Cabo Wabo. Although I think I remember hearing Sammy sold it.

reply

Yep, and made $90 million doing it.

reply

Just plain genius.

Dave's a better performer but Sammy is just plain much smarter.

reply

And the minute his non-compete clause expired, he got back into the biz with Adam Levine from Maroon 5:

reply

I hadn't heard anything about this.
He obviously knows how to make money.

Have you tried this?
Is this legit stuff or just a hipster thing?

reply

Never tried it or Cabo Wabo.

reply

I feel like I don't know you anymore.

Please remedy this.

reply

I meant to pick up these tequilas for tasting today, but I forgot. The remedy will have to wait one more year.

reply

Don’t have a favorite as I’ve never been to one. I don’t like crowds. Going to a crowded mall in Orlando got to me. If I were to go I would like to attend an Air Supply concert. I missed out on Elvis and the Everly Brothers.

reply

I can deal with some Air Supply.

I'm lost in love
So lift your eyes if you feel you can
Reach for a star and I'll show you a plan
I figured it out
What I needed was someone to show me

reply

I don’t care for the screeching sound bands do with a guitar, so hard rock is not my thing. Granted some of the bands have tunes I do like. Even some of Air Supply I turn off. I like the Vietnam War era music...Bob Dylan told a tale, β€œBlowin’ in the Wind and The Times They Are a-Changin

Buffalo Springfield

There's somethin' happenin' here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun, over there
Tellin' me I got to beware

(I think it's time we)
Stop, children, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's goin' down?

reply

For What It's Worth

reply

Thanks, hownos. I failed to post the title of the song, β€œFor What It’s Worth”. Also, the Air Supply lines you posted are from one of my favorites.

reply

very welcome.

reply

I'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you
I know you were right believing for so long
I'm all out of love, what am I without you
I can't be too late to say that I was so wrong

reply

I'm hoping you're quoting the song.
If not we may have to have a long talk.

I mean I like you and everything but you are married.
Not to mention I will not cut your hair!

This a guilty pleasure for me.
I still have Air Supply albums.

reply

It was an Air Supply quote - I bet those albums are worth a fortune.

reply

I have two of them.

reply

And we only have two of you...
Howey+Dewey=cuteness

Kiss you guys lolololπŸ˜‚

reply

Let's ship us!

Dewnos
or
Howey (you nailed it)

reply

Dewnos is cute
But Howdy is hot!

reply

It his hot!!
I just opened a window.

reply

Sorry...it was Taco night😫

reply

lol.

You can never go mild can you?
No. It's always the extra spicy.

reply

I just dont know when to quitπŸ’¨πŸ’¨
Sorry...

reply

I assume Buckley sang 'Hallelujah'

reply

He ended the show with it.

The only time I've ever cried at a concert.
One of the most moving times of my life.

reply

He died in May 1997. Time sure flies.

reply

It's so hard to believe.
I think he would have done greater things.

Just like his father, died way too young.
His father was even younger when he died.
Another great musician.

reply

Gathering of the Vibes. Music Festivals always attract an array of interesting people lol. I went a few years in a row.

Second would be my first Allman Brother's concert in Mansfield, Massachusetts; 2002 or 2003 I think.

Both of these concerts I attended with one of my best friends. Sadly, he passed away over the summer due to drug addiction. RIP buddy.

reply

The music festivals are the best aren't they?
I go to one every year that has over 800 bands in 12 days or so.
Interesting people are an understatement.

Sorry to hear about your friend.
I lost a friend of mine last month so I feel you.
They'll always be with us though!

reply

They definitely are. It's not just the music either, it's the whole atmosphere. Thanks about my friend and sorry for your loss as well. Hopefully they are both at peace.

reply

The Atmosphere and the food and beer.
Every time I go I bet I gain 10 pounds in a couple weeks.

From the sounds of it they both deserve some peace.

reply

I once went to a jazz festival at a zoo in the middle of summer. The headliner was Maynard Ferguson of the Rocky theme fame. It was so surreal, awaiting that iconic music while browsing through the zoo and observing the animals lounging in their cages on a hot summer day. Just seemed like a strange but fascinating combination.

reply

That sounds like an unique experience.
Jazz and the Zoo.

It must have been for you to remember it.

reply

Never been on a concert and i'm pretty sure that i will never go to see one.

reply

You never went to an O-Zone concert???

reply

Who,in the bloody hell,is o - zone!?

reply

You can not be Romanian and not know O-Zone.

reply

croft is the guy in bright yellow

πŸ˜† OMG! We have a celebrity in our midst!!!

reply

this is croft, sorry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmtzQCSh6xk

reply

πŸ˜‚ The president of their fanclub!

reply

Yes. didn't this song win the Eurovision contest ??

reply

Haha, unfortunately it did not. I do think one of the former members took part in the Eurovision Songcontest.

reply

Bloody hell😨

reply

No,i'm bloody not.I was to young at that time.

reply

You're kidding, right ?

reply

No,i'm not.

reply

Of course. πŸ˜†

reply

What's that suppose to mean?

reply

Perhaps i heard a song from this bloody band, but it doesn't mean that i liked it

reply

Suuure!πŸ˜‰

reply

embrace your inner self

reply

I've done that and i'm scared by it.

reply

good point

reply

That's just sad croft.
Nothing like feeling live music.

reply

It's not sad.I just don't feel good in crowded places, that's all.

reply

When you're at a live concert and really into it you don't even notice the crowd.
It's like the band is singing to only you.
It's quite a rush.

reply

The 1989 Stones "Steel Wheels" Concert was the best I've ever seen. It was f***ing AWESOME!

😎

reply

Love the Stones!

reply

As the old saying goes, "A thousand bands PLAY rock music. The Stones ARE rock music."

😎

reply

One of the few bands I've never seen that I wanted to.

reply

You might be too late there. They're about a thousand years old now.

😎

reply

Yeah, it's sad but true.

Sucks to see your legends get old!
Kind of like what happens when I think of you. 😜

reply

I represent that remark!
