Books You'd Like to See Adapted to Movies

Yeah, I know, another post about books *and* movies. (What can I say, books and movies are two of my loves!) I'm curious, what are some books that you'd like to see made into movies?

My pick: The Postmortal by Drew Magary

reply

We should forgive our enemies...but not before they are hanged...

Joe Abercrombies the the first law series would make an excellent tv series adaptation.

reply

The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson

reply

I'd love to see that one too!

reply

There is a book I love called Rachel's Holiday by Marian Keyes it would make a brilliantly funny film.

It's about an Irish woman living in New York, she has a drug and alcohol addiction, her family intervenes and take her home to Ireland to go to a rehabilitation centre. She thinks it's going to be a glamorous experience, full of drying out celebrities but the reality is different.
It's sad,funny,just really really funny.

reply

That sounds interesting, and like it'd make a great film.

reply

I'm definitely going to look for that one. It sounds like a good book!

reply

Crime and punishment

Brothers in arms
Monte Cassino, every book by sven hassel

reply

Shantaram was supposed to be adapted into a movie, but it never worked out.

reply

Two Vonnegut books in particular I'd love to see adapted, "The Sirens of Titan" and "Galapagos".

Also, always longed for a well adapted Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land".

reply

Oh, great choices, Kaz!

😎

reply

Assuming you've read "Galapagos", can you just imagine it?! "One million years ago, today..." lol, (sigh, today's movie makers would only botch this golden opportunity).

reply

I don't think I've read that one. I'll have to check it out.

😎

reply

I'm hoping you might finally read enough of the good stuff you realize how misguided you've been. ;)

reply

Why do you say that?

😎

reply

Well, gee, I don't know, MovieMan. Let's just say, I suspect you might be reachable, you like all the best libtards. That's the closest thing to a compliment you're likely to get from me, MovieMan. You just keep reading books, okay MovieMan? Lots and lots of books, okay? Then we'll meet again in twenty years and reflect back on these delightful times of ours. Okay, MovieMan?

reply

Okay, I'll take it, but you're wrong about one thing, I don't like ANY Libtards. I can get along with some, but I do not like them. And I have read many books, but none of them have convinced me like Libtards.

And okay, check back with me in 20 years. And then we can reflect on how misguided you were.

😎

reply

Kurt Vonnegut was one righteous libtard. Douglas Adams. Charlie Brooker. Should I go on?

reply

Okay point taken. I like the books of two Libtards: Vonnegut and Adams, though I don't recall any politics in any of Adams' books.

😎

reply

Monty Python, pretty libtarded, MovieMan. Lots of books, MovieMan, read lots of books.

reply

Here's a clue, if it's funny, libtards are behind it. There's never been a funny conservative in history, ever. If it's imaginative and/or visionary, libtards are behind it. There's never been an imaginative conservative in history, ever. They're boring navel-gazers with bad ideas and they should feel bad. Starting to understand why you might, maybe, be on the wrong track, MovieMan? Keep reading books then, lots of books, MovieMan. If it's interesting, libtards are behind it, etc, ad nauseam.

reply

That is a gross, absurd and false generalization. Like all generalizations it is not true simply because you say it is.

This is one of the things about you Libtards which drive me nuts. You want to politicize everything. And you continue to do so. You yourselves can never enjoy all those books and movies you speak of because as a Libtard, you view everything through the dark pessimistic glasses of your failed political philosophy.

Libtards are generally mean, spiteful, unhappy people. The Left is the biggest hate group in the world. It's only loons of the left who hold up bloody severed heads of presidents like Kathy Griffin, or speak of "blowing up the White House" like that whore Madonna did. So before you throw stones at the Right, get your own fecal matter aggregated.

BTW, what the fuck is Madonna talking about?? And hey, Madonna, FUCK YOU TOO!

You appear to be an exception to this rule. But then as they say, the exception proves the rule.

reply

Name three funny conservatives. Ready, set, go!

reply

Depends on what you mean by funny πŸ˜‹

reply

And name one person in this world other than your deranged self who cares whether Conservatives are funny or not. Nobody cares.

No sir, you won't be wriggling out of this one by moving the goal posts again. You said I made a "gross, absurd and false generalization," your words, and I take issue with that. Now, either demonstrate that I made a "gross, absurd and false generalization," your words, by naming three funny conservatives (easy, right?), or admit that you're either unwilling or incapable of arguing honestly, because those are your options.

reply

I didn't move any goal posts, Kazak. I just stated that I don't really care. But okay, to satisfy your morbid curiosity, here's a list that I just threw together:

Dennis Miller
Tim Allen
Jeff Foxworthy
Adam Corolla
Norm Macdonald
Jeff Dunham
Bill Engvall
Steven Crowder
Ron White
Larry the Cable Guy
Jackie Mason
Adam Sandler
Rob Schneider
Nick Di Paolo
Evan Sayet
Joe Piscopo
Victoria Jackson
Joe Rogan
Michael Joiner
Chonda Pierce
Rusty Humphries
Kevin Aldeman
Bob Hope

Now are you satisfied? You asked for three, and I gave you 23! Now please go away and play with your mental blocks.

I LOVE that the first one you listed there (from your Google search) was Dennis Miller! Well done. I'll just let your little list speak for itself.

Bite me.

It's been a pleasure doing business with you.

(Read a lot of books.)

It's been fun. Get out in the real world more, please. It will help dispel some of your delusions.

I really need to get back into reading Vonnegut. Slaughterhouse-Five and Breakfast of Champions are two of my favorite books, but I haven't read any others by him. I'm so for adapting Vonnegut to the big screen, though. He was amazing!

reply

I think that I said this book in the last thread about this, The Game by Terry Schott.

reply

First one that came to mind is Jack Finney's 1970 novel about time travel, Time and Again.

reply

Cat, I have no idea of how that book ever got past me. I absolutely love all things time travel! I must read that one. Thanks!

reply

I think you'll love it, MissMargo. The premise for the ability for these characters to time travel is quite believable, as it's presented. Plus the plot in general is compelling.

reply

Can't wait to get my hands on it. Sounds like something I really will enjoy!

reply

I hope you'll post about what your thoughts on it are after you've read it. Feel free to PM me!
