And the winner is.....

If you had to give an Oscar to a single performance what would it be?

Either the best performance ever or maybe your favorite performance will do.
A performance that shows true versatility.

One of my choices would be

William Hurt in Kiss of the Spider Woman.

reply

Charles Laughton in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. This has been controversial for decades.

reply

Laughton is underrated.
It's been a long time since I've seen this film.

reply

It's dynamic, mesmerizing ! In that, he IS Quasimodo !

reply

My brother and I snuck into the theater thinking it was a sci-fi/horror movie of some kind. We snuck out pretty quickly.

reply

Ha!
Yeah, I could see that might be a problem.

reply

Casey Affleck
The Killer Inside Me

reply

Still haven't seen this one.

Frances McDormand in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. This was a fantastic performance!

Looking forward to seeing this movie.

I'm a big McDonagh fan.

You will enjoy it, and I like McDonagh too.

Great job at such a young age.

reply

Agreed.

Philip Seymour Hoffman in Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007). https://moviechat.org/tt0292963/Before-the-Devil-Knows-Youre-Dead

Alternately, pretty much any of his other performances.

reply

Another great call.

He definitely has done some memorable roles.
He deserved better.

reply

Yes, he definitely left us too soon. I wish he had more lead roles. But he was so good, even in the smallest supporting roles.

reply

I just saw God's Pocket earlier this year.
Not a great movie but Hoffman out-acted the part.
Extremely well done.
