To the tenth of a point... at what rating do films become unwatchable for you?

Using the old IMDB rating system. What number would discourage you from watching a film?
7.3?, 6.5?, 5.2?

Probably 4.9

I am never discouraged from watching a movie by it's rating. I prefer to watch it first before making judgement. I've watched films with an 8.0+ rating that I thought were horrible, and films lower than 6.0 that I enjoyed.

reply

anything below 6

I'll watch any movie rated over 0.0 as long as the premise looks intriguing.

I watched Komodo (1999) today which was rated at 4.2. Not only was it watchable, but also entertaining; very underrated with a great, 'creepy' element to it.

IMDb ratings have no effect on my decision to watch a movie or not. In fact, most often, I won’t even know the rating until after I’ve watched something and gone looking for information on it. I try to look up as little as possible about any given film before watching it.

For me 7 is at mininum. 7.0 to 7.4 I approach cautiously. 7.5 and up is fine.

Critical reviews are interesting, but overall give the movie 10-15 minutes and you'll know if it's worth your time
