On Thursday just before bed I unconsciously typed IMDB when I wanted to read about a movie, but I caught myself and closed the window right away. I really want to avoid ever going there again. Have any of you gone back?
IMDB is the best site for movie information, it lists every actor and every film ever made all the way down to silent movies, it is a wealth of movie information, stories and quotes of every single actor, including how much they make, there is not a site anywhere that can even come close to IMDB, why would anyone that's looking for movie info not go there?
If you need that kind of info, you go there. But there is no need for me to do it right now. I was visiting the site for the boards mostly. I'm not browsing movie info daily. Occasionally I'll visit, but right now there is no need for it.
After I learned that the message boards were being deleted I couldn't bring myself to go to the website.
I have relied on IMDB for more than a decade. Multiple times every week, I used IMDB. I have settled arguments amongst friends, discussed my favorite movies with strangers, and learned random trivia.
I am heartbroken from the loss of the message boards.
Most importantly, I am pi$$ed off that a very large portion of their users have been very vocal about the issue, and as far as I know (and please correct me if I am wrong), there has been no acknowledgement from IMDB, or the new shiney parent company.
On accident a few times, my brain's still wired to go there. I've installed a site blocker though and added IMDB to it, so even when I type in the address, it doesn't take me there.
4 times. Once to make sure that boards are gone, once to get into their help pages to observe the reaction of people (cause I forgot the getsatisfaction link), once to snoop around and once out of habit cause my fingers apparently have a longer memory than my brain lol.
But I use wikipedia as much as I can... also rotten tomatoes.
Noooope. I've had to resist like once or twice, but other than that, I've had enough outlets (thankfully) to keep from feeling the need to float on over there.
No, and I've avoided it like the plague. My one concern is the great cast and crew lists they have. Is there another site that has such an extensive list? I've been using Wikipedia for actor and movie info but it's not as thorough as IMDb. Any ideas about an alternative for pure information?
