Keelai: 8 votes
filmflaneur: 4 votes
JBran: 1 vote
KingBob: 1 vote

. Filmflaneur is making a bit of a comeback.

reply

#1 Keelai

reply

That's who I had in mind when I started this thread. Thanks for your vote.

reply

He must from now on be referred to as ‘Keelie’

reply

I haven't seen this individual since, well, I put he or she on ignore. Probably over a year ago.. I have 25 of them on ignore as they float around the Phantom Zone spouting nonsense and I can't see them nor read their comments and I'm good with this

reply

RustyShackleford

I haven't seen him in some time but that guy is not only full of shit, he spammed me with "evidence" via pm everytime I disagreed with him in a post until I finally had enough and blocked him. When I unblocked him months later he had already thankfully stopped posting here.

reply

how about someone active?

reply

TrentinQuarantino comes to mind, though he may just be a moron rather than a liar.

I think you want me to say Keelai, but I don't believe that labeling Keelai as a liar is accurate. He is someone with extremely unconventional views that likes to stir the pot with seemingly outrageous statements meant to draw out confessions of ill will, but I don't believe Keelai's intent here is to spread lies.

I also personally believe that the likes of flimflam posting source mined search results, as if they somehow objectively validate the subjective claims that they make, is more dishonest than anything Keelai does.

reply

I also personally believe that the likes of flimflam posting source mined search results, as if they somehow objectively validate the subjective claims that they make, is more dishonest than anything Keelai does.

If you think a research technique that simply and openly utilizes the sources already found to discover more sources relevant to a topic is dishonest, then you really need to get out more. The practice of carefully and thoroughly examining existing sources, including their reference lists and cited works, to uncover new and relevant information or connections for a story, is common in journalism and there is no reason why it cannot apply and work just as well to internet discussions. I think why it causes some people issues here is that they are those for whom source mining often reveals no separate or authoritative support for their claims. So the only option is to call that found by the opposition untrustworthy or lies.

The dishonesty I most find on this board is the use of insults in lieu of argument; also from those who make claims, often of the most contentious nature, without any substantiation all the while assuring the reader they must be wrong.

reply

The thing is, what I said is that this is "my personal belief."

You can state your own beliefs ad infinitum, but they will still be nothing but your beliefs.

reply

Indeed. Hence the need for substantiation and sources, especially for the more egregiously controversial claims. In suggesting that what one says is anything more than just one's beliefs lays the dishonesty. I am glad you agree.

reply

FF do you have a vote?

reply

This sort of thing is not for me, thank you. But I am enjoying the partisan notoriety, and it seems to work for you.

reply

congrats you kept that response under 3 paragraphs. Wait until amerigirl responds. I've asked her simple questions before and she types 7 paragraphs.

reply

I admire your restraint.

reply

By coming in here to lie (and refusing to participate) has Flimflam inadvertently… voted for himself?

reply

Hmm....you might have a point.

reply

As much as you endeavor to list the argumentative fallacies of others, you would do well to familiarize yourself with the "appeal to authority" fallacy before putting so much credence into the links you so readily post here.

reply

The 'Argument from authority' fallacy is an interesting case. It is a logical fallacy where someone argues that a claim is true simply because a perceived authority figure supports it, without providing any other evidence or justification. But in my case I hope I usually offer justification of my own, or evidence, before linking to authorities. In other words I might say something is true, just as my authorities say it is, and not because they say it is. Also there is some disagreement on how strong a fallacy it is. Some consider it a practical and sound way of obtaining knowledge that is generally likely to be justified when the authority is a credible expert in the relevant field and their opinion is supported by evidence, rather than relying solely on their status or reputation. Arguably a lot of school books and academic work offer or represent a continuous appeal from authority, while the religious commonly use an appeal to scripture (God) to assert their eternal truths. It is also the way the legal system works (precedent or constitution).

reply

Flimflam, and I sincerely hope you don't take offense to me calling you that because I actually think it's about as great of a moniker as you can hope for, this is the one time I wish you had chopped up your post like you usually do.

Posting links is pretentious and worthless because of the capacity to find virtually anything that backs up virtually any belief one may hold. If you wish to edify yourself through reading articles of that sort, that may be a good thing. Posting those concepts here for discussion instead of the articles themselves, including a comprehension of the concepts to the extent that you can substantiate the claims with an understanding of the concepts that they are founded on, isn't.

That's your major issue and why you have such a detractive presence on the forums. Your pretentiousness outweighs the snippets of any arguments you make, in one liners as you chop up nearly every post you respond to into fragments that can be taken out of context.

reply

Posting links is pretentious and worthless

As someone from an academic background in the liberal arts, I am used to backing up my assertions with references. It is not commonly seen as pretentious nor worthless as you say. More it is accepted as expected evidence of knowing of what one speaks.

the capacity to find virtually anything that backs up virtually any belief one may hold.

This maybe true of the Bible but is not necessarily the case in many instances (or if it is, even then some back up sources are of greater quality than others, experts and professionals over partisan amateurs for instance) In fact, some posters take pride in not backing up anything they say, almost as if all they have is echo chamber gossip to go with. Funny that. In this age of 'alternate truths' I think it is even more necessary to show and prove using reliable authorities.

If you wish to edify yourself through reading articles of that sort, that may be a good thing. Post those concepts here for discussion instead of the articles themselves, including a comprehension of the concepts to the extent that you can substantiate the claims with an understanding of the concepts that they are founded on, isn't.

Er, I think you mean the opposite of what you write here lol, i.e. that original thought is to be valued over appeals to authority and cut 'n' pasting.

I agree actually; but substantiation is still the best policy after making claims and assertions, especially those which, typically here, can be hotly disputed. I have had a couple of exchanges recently when my interlocuter has told me he or she 'never' provides sources. Not only does it put them at a disadvantage and even look arrogant, but if I was to follow their examples, the result would be just an exchange of opinions without any sense of reality, and quickly end after those (usually increasingly acrimonious) opinions were exhausted. Witness tv who never offers sources for anything, he just ends with insults, since that is all that is left for him after an exchange of opinions.

I can't believe I have to defend the best practice of proving what one says against the charge of lying lol. Somewhat ironic I think.

such a detractive presence on the forums. Your pretentiousness

Thank you.But pretentiousness is not dishonesty. I don't think a demand for substantiation (and the supply of same) is such a detraction or problem as those who openly insult, or offer offensive racist or sexist views as 'facts' only to be opposed (as it appears you prefer) with more, if liberal opinion. These people need to be shown the daylight not left to bask in the warm glow of their own estimation.

reply

Oh dear, skavau. Proven guilty.

reply

So is it Trentin or FF? Try to keep your answer to a few words.

reply

ClownBaby we've had a tiff or two, but let's keep it civil, and by that I mean please don't make suggestions of that sort. If my post is too lengthy you're welcome to not read it.

I think that Trentin may intentionally lie, but the likes of flimflam are more subversive in their dishonesty, intentional or not. I suppose you can decide which is worse, but the partisan appeal to authority bothers me more.

reply

Okay.

I nominate ClownBaby.

reply

Oddly enough, even with your vote, his name has not appeared on the tally. Surely things cannot be rigged?

reply

He only did that because I didnt want to be friendly with him. ask him if Im lying.

reply

So his vote isn't counted? I see. Convenient. And didn't he in effect say you were a liar already? If this is supposed to be a court of public opinion, at least pretend it is a fair one.

reply

Here, here.

reply

I did it because you posted about chatting with someone a year ago when this account of yours is only 5 months old. Then you deleted the posts around it.

Either way a vote is a vote, right?

reply

I'm beginning to think this is a rigged election.

reply

Where's the lie?

reply

MAGA morons on MC only spew lies that their leader spews, which is close to 50,000 lies at this time

reply

Boring! 😴😴😴

reply

Do you have a vote?

reply

Flimflam

He has taken Skavau’s place as Head Sister (assuming of course that he isn’t a literal Skavau sock which is a distinct possibility)

reply

Thank you for the vote.

reply

It's a sock🧦

reply

Just a reminder that, if you going to try and do a Trump on your most effective opponents, then the terms of these boards include an undertaking that 11. 'you will not use any information gained from the service in order to harass.. or abuse another person'.

https://moviechat.org/terms

Now, I'm not bothered. I've had two or three call out threads since I started out here a few months back, and find the repeated attention flattering. But who knows which other, less forgiving readers of your efforts may be out there?

reply

👆🏻 Flimflam senses he might win this so goes for ‘I’m flattered’ and desperately tries to threaten Clownbaby with ‘you might be breaking site rules with all this…’ at the same time 🤣

reply

You think you're an effective opponent??? Bless your heart.

reply

And yet here I am.

reply

Stupid is as stupid does.

reply

Can we end the childish name calling now? You're not big or clever.

reply

Don't worry. Leftist have always struggled with understanding the majority vote.

reply

Typical Skavau to cite MC terms.

reply

Well spotted. Another point for Skavau-sock theory.

reply

It was so funny when Skavau was posting about barely reporting anyone and a mod replied directly to the post and said that Skavau reports more people on this site than anyone else.

reply

Yeah, if only Skavau was still here eh?

reply

But he is here👆, there's no difference between the two of you.

reply

Just get over it. He's gone.

reply

Nope.

reply

Nope; looks like you will still keep up with the trolling. LOL

reply

Oh dear...

This is the last time I will engage with your childishness. But don't let me stop you from wasting more of your time if it makes you happy. I am sure your Jesus will be proud of your antics.

reply

Oh skavau, you waste your whole life in here.

reply

>He's gone
He's a she now.

reply

Really? Where is that shown?

reply

Did skavau finally transition?

reply

Yes, but now we've got you.

You may be the Dick Sergeant but you're doing well enough.

reply

As I said before, I thought you were one of the better ones and am now disappointed.

reply

I never claimed to be good, but why did that compliment upset you?

Dick Sergeant is a person, not an insult.

reply

I rarely get upset and am not now. The context is you already having called me pretentious and dishonest here, I think. I can hardly be blamed for thinking you continue with sarcasm. But, whatever.

reply

That's probably good. I assure you that wasn't an insult.

I'm not sure I've ever even insulted you directly and definitely not recently.

Truth be told, I wouldn't respond to your posts as often as I do if I disliked you and you have also become a much more palatable poster since joining us.

reply

I'm sorry, but being called 'flimflam' then 'the Dick Sergeant' is not so endearing as you think it is.

I'm not sure I've ever even insulted you directly and definitely not recently.

As I said, you've already had me down as 'pretentious' and 'dishonest' on this thread which is the context.

you have also become a much more palatable poster since joining us.

If only the same could be said of some of my respondents here who have become worse, and more focused on personal attacks than debate. Viz: this current thread. .

reply

It is actually Dick Sargent. Sorry, I knew the spelling was a little different than sergeant.

reply

Apology noted; but you will understand after what you said about me earlier, it is treated with some scepticism.

That's all from me. I have better things to do than engage with such a personal and negative thread.

reply

The Dick Sargent to Skavau's Dick York.

I believe we may be encountering a cultural barrier but this is the reference:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bewitched

reply

That moment was just… priceless 🤣

I think that’s when Skavau finally said to himself ‘Fuck. I’m a busted flush on this site, all credibility is now down the toilet and I’m a total clown show. I’ll stick it out until the election but if Trump wins… I’m peacing outta here’

reply

I think you're right that it was the beginning of the end, as funny as it was.

reply

I am asking everyone's opinion. Is that still allowed you little fascist?

reply

you little fascist

https://moviechat.org/bd0000082/Politics/67af64b695ba1154652134ce/Biggest-liar-on-the-board?reply=67b083c360072405693869aa

reply

Is that a yes or no? Are people allowed to give their opinions?

reply

Sorry; I thought the question was rhetorical as well as insulting. The answer is, obviously, yes. Unless (on this board) it amounts to harassment and abuse.

It does not mean opinions are necessarily right of course, as you often demonstrate. But if I ever say people are not entitled to their views subject to terms and conditions, please raise this again.

reply

Thank you for allowing us an opinion. Try to remain consistent now and stop reporting posts.

reply

Try and remain consistent now and stop reporting posts.

Reminding you of this site's T & C is not reporting posts - something in fact I have never done, even after (in one case) a foul barrage of personalised abuse.

reply

I saw in another thread you admitted to getting a few of someone's posts deleted? [Melton IIRC]

reply

I think I know what you have in mind. There was an exchange once with him in which several of his posts vanished and he made accusations; but that was not due to anything I did, despite MeltDown's somewhat paranoid jumping to conclusions, which will no doubt be continued here. After all, if I was really that sensitive, there is no doubt far worse from his hand that I might have actioned against since.

These things are hard to prove I appreciate (and being on Liar of the Week, or whatever, I appreciate makes this rather ironic lol), but there it is. All I can do is say what happened.

reply

Yep, Flimflam ran screaming to the mods to have a bunch of my posts deleted. I was calling out his ‘evasion noted’ hypocrisy and he didn’t want that going public so he resorted to censorship. He even tried to get me banned.

It’s ironic that in a thread about the biggest liars on Moviechat, Flimflam is trying to clear his name by… lying.

reply

Keeliar is definitely #1.

Everybody else is clamoring for 2nd place. Flimflam, robofuckwit, Harlemglobetwatter, Thaishitonastick, Rorikumdumpster, moviesplatterer, KYbiker, Ranblowsself, Yatzocunt, etc., etc., ad nauseam.

reply

Thank you.

reply

Those were pretty good. Who is Harlembedwetter?

reply

HarlemEagle42

reply

Oh ok. Thanks tvfan.

reply

hahaha, the perfect fitting names.

reply

I surprised myself, I came up with those pretty quick.

reply

[deleted]

What's that about?

reply

I was wondering the same thing.

reply

Arent you the knife collector who I talked to here about a year ago? I must be thinking of someone else?

reply

[–] ClownBaby (968) 41 minutes ago
Arent you the knife collector who I talked to here about a year ago? I must be thinking of someone else?

A year ago on an account made six months ago. Interesting.

ClownBaby, I am definitely voting for you. Can you please add my selection to the OP?

reply

[deleted]

I don't recall. I knew the guy in that Instagram post. Not sure of the connection here.

reply

Flimflam is the same person as Filmflaneur, right?

What did Filmflaneur say that makes him a big liar?

I don't know what else he talks about, but I just had a long debate with him about gender. He didn't do a good job defending his arguments, but I don't remember anything I would call lying.

reply

Flimflam lies all day long. Just repeating the same leftist bullshit narrative over and over again.

reply

Like what?

reply

If being constantly branded a fascist/racist/nazi for no just reason other than disagreeing with the other person constitutes a lie then Keelai by a long shot.

reply

Thank you for your vote.

reply

I'm also being branded a fascist, racist, and a Nazi, but in my case I am all those things so...
