Because of who was ultimately responsible, we don’t expect full disclosure from those files.

Maybe, but the vindication would be so much sweeter if we had goverment-proof to point to. Assuming what they release is honest. 60 years of the gov telling us we're conspiracy nut jobs, we deserve all the vindication we can get.
I agree, but for me and others, it will not change anything, besides, we don’t expect full disclosure or honesty since it was written and edited by the same agencies that were involved or complicit.

shareI was ready to drop my first baby (Dec. 8, 1963) when this occurred. After the Warren Commission we were informed the real/total truth wouldn’t be known until 50 years had passed. Why? IMO, I along with millions, believe persons in the U.S. government were involved…LBJ for one. 50 years would give all those who were involved time to give up their ghosts.

share50 years from year 1963 to year 2013 which came and went. We currently are at over 60 years…still waiting. Oswald was a “patsy”. LBJ was a crooked SOB who also caused the deaths of thousands in our American military when he lied about the Bay of Tonkin and ordered “boots on the ground”. Actually he was worse than Nixon whose crime was his involvement in Watergate…no one killed. Nixon had to deal with LBJ’s mess.
John McCone was the Director of the CIA in 1963. I don’t recall hearing about the following:

shareWell, at least you bother to know your history. That’s a hell of a lot more do on this board. The SOB decimated the Cape in Florida and moved most everything to Houston. People on the east coast of Florida got stepped on by his huge Texas boot. They lost their jobs and their home values plummeted. It was akin to a death knell. People who had the funds could pick up homes for a song. So many despised him to their core beings.
My first cousin is on that black check mark of a wall in D.C. I attended the funeral of my neighbor’s son. Both are on the same black panel. LBJ caused the deaths of over 50,000 for a useless war which we didn’t win. Many are still dying from the effects of Agent Orange which also has been passed down to their children and beyond.
I'm mostly mad at him for what he did to the black community and the rest of the poor, because I got bullied by the grandchildren of those very people who started sucking off the taxpayer's teat two generations earlier. That, and the welfare system in America has been abused so badly that it's done a lot of damage to our country, far more than people realize.
I also figured out, after visiting Johnson Space Center in Texas and Cape Canaveral in Florida, that NASA couldn't have picked two shittier places to set up Mission Control or to launch rockets. The heat and humidity of Florida make it a nightmare to launch rockets in general, and Mission Control is in a hurricane-prone area of Texas! Mom claims that LBJ demanded the two areas be built in his neck of the woods out of pride. All I'm seeing is an asshole that did everything he could to slow down the space program. If NASA had truly wanted to make progress in space travel, they would have built their HQ and their launchpad in the deserts of Nevada, where it's dry and clean, and not prone to bugs, humidity, hurricanes, or thunderstorms on a regular basis.
And yeah, it was because of LBJ, that the Vietnam War lasted longer than it should have. Many people bought into the propaganda that it was to "stop the spread of Communism," but mom told me it was actually because of oil reserves off the coast of Vietnam. That, and they failed miserably to stop that "spreading of Communism." Had JFK lived, the war would have been ended much sooner, but LBJ wanted power, the CIA wanted to keep up whatever they were doing, and the military wanted to continue the flow of money.

In response to your above statement the first thing I thought of was the Atlantic ocean.
I decided to research why the Cape was chosen. My thought of the Atlantic ocean was one of the deciding factors. See the following to answer your query of why the Cape was chosen. It’s an interesting read. Your reasoning of a dryer place isn’t off the wall. There were times the shuttle couldn’t land in Florida due to the inclement weather.
As far as the Atlantic ocean goes with NASA’s thought of debris falling into the ocean…that thought went out the door when Columbia exploded over Texas!
