shareThis was an ABC/ESPN affiliate in Pennsylvania. They were allegedly testing their election-reporting chyron during the F1 broadcast and in doing so they broadcast for a period of time the "final results" of PA voting for President. They claim it was randomly generated but of course it showed Harris winning the state, and by an absurd 5% margin. I know, what are the odds?
The question is, why would they need to test this software at all? A bottom-of-the-screen scroll has been common for 30 years now and I would guess that there are any number of plug and play software packages available that require nothing more complicated than entering the data and hitting the "on" switch. If they really needed to test the software, why not do it at 3 in the morning when no one's watching? And why not use a fictional race as an example? Further, one has to think that there's no such "random generator" built in to the software. What would be the purpose of such? So that seems a lie.
