Wealthier Members of Congress Have Family Links to Slavery
--
U.S. Senators and Representatives whose family had a history of enslaving others have greater present-day wealth.

Members of the U.S. congress whose ancestors enslaved people have had a higher median net worth than those whose ancestors did not, according to a new analysis published on Wednesday in PLOS ONE.

The analysis used genealogical data published last year by an investigative team at Reuters, which found that in 2021, at least 100 members of Congress were descended from enslavers. This included 8 percent of Democrats and 28 percent of Republicans.

Still working yourself up about something that hasn't existed for 160 years? How weird.

reply

You're stupid. They would not be marginally running the country if that money had no persisted for 160 years.

reply

Who would be? The "Content of Their Character" Negroes?

reply

Actually if the parasites didn't feed abortion propaganda to the Black community, they would be prospering right now.

Parasites are the enemy, not those that want to Make America Great.

The sample size is too small to make any accurate conclusions. They only looked at 535 members of Congress.

They only used the median instead of other other measures like the mean and the mode. There are other numbers that could provide a better picture like top 10 or bottom 10.

The researcher is biased so he is only going to publish results that fit his goals. The researcher is trying to use statistics to show racial disparities that would make a case for reparations.

I also take issue with his claims about inherited wealth. A lot of families end up broke due to bad business deals, too many divorces, too many kids or too many drugs. A lot of European cultures practiced primogeniture and that meant that the oldest son inherited all or most of the family fortune while the rest of the heirs received a pittance.

Take a statistics class. Don't count on everyone to feed you your MAGA opinions.

reply

I took a statistics class many years ago and that's how I determined that his study lacked sufficient data. I'm also an independent voter so I do not blindly adhere to MAGA positions.

reply

That's funny.

reply

And what percentage of Reps are actual Dems posing as Republicans?

Spoiler Alert: 98%

reply

False Flag! False Flag!

reply

No surprise there. The exploitation of labor was baked into the system from the beginning.

reply

Exactly, and when you look at where we went from after WWII with FDR's leadership educated Americans for Kennedy's space program and built the middle class, and look at where we are today, sick, stupid American children in families where both parents have to work, they don't have good health care, they cannot afford college for their children, they cannot afford a house ... this is Reconstruction 2.0, the virtual slavery system while monopolistic corporations surveil us and can tell how much we can afford and before we buy something they adjust the price. If any of you think Trump is going to do anything about any of that you're crazy.

reply

Oh please. Less than 2% owned slaves and those families were destroyed during the war. Their homes destroyed or seized, their wealth dispersed.

I'm more concerned with present day politicians that have become millionaires while in office.

reply

Gee?? What a shocker?? I'm glad you were able to fulfill our lives this news story. By the way, Trump's still winning in November so book your appointment at your Therapist now to get through this
