I agree that the US needs to address its immigration policies which may require some tough love measures. I disagree with this latest move using people as pawns, misleading them, it's not a good look for our country. It also does not endere DeSantis to MA in any way (we do have a lot of Republicans here) if he expects to be everyone's president. That being said, if this forces Congress to act in a bipartisan way to once and for all address immigration, at least something good came from it, though I doubt this will have any effect and don't condone the method.

Martha's Vineyard is a small RESIDENTIAL village. Migrants need specific services like housing, food, health, school, job training and legal services which aren't there. Those type of services are usually established beforehand and not at the drop of a hat.

Its not xenophobic to call out our broken immigration system allowing for the blatant abuse of asylum laws by economic migrants. One would have to be blind not to acknowledge it. I mean, we're nearing 2 million arrests in the fiscal year and its only going to keep getting worse.
I fully support immigrants coming legally, vetted refugees and legitimate asylum seekers, but I definitely have a problem with the endless stream of destitute migrants trying to get a foot in the door by any means necessary. Its simply not a sustainable practice.
Perhaps allow them to apply online or at an embassy in their home country, so we can weed out the fraudulent applicants, making it easier for the legitimate asylum seekers to make their case?

The asylum seekers WERE offered temporary space/shelter, food, and assistance until the time they were moved, which was more than desantis had planned for them. What HE did was flew them there with no other plans made for them except to drop them off at an unknown to them location, with false/misleading promises of what they would be provided when they got there.
