Serious question for Wokes & Libs

What do we, as a civilized society, GAIN by being soft on crime? The criminal gains, and he's the only one.

If people learn that there are no CONSEQUENCES for their actions, they have no reason to reform: Recidivism, it's happening right now.

Without law and SOME KIND of order, we may as well revert to the old West, all carry guns, and just shoot each other if someone crosses us.

Do you realize that the only reason you have your possessions is because of law and order? Without consequences, anyone could take over your home, your car, and all you have, and throw you out on the street.

I am familiar with the argument that "too many people of color" are in the system. But let's be honest, they are not in the system because of the color of their skin -- but because they broke the law.

Why don't we just decriminalize EVERYTHING and let people run amuck ? Would this make the progressives happy? Too many people of color are being jailed for crimes, so we'll decriminalize those specific crimes -- and that will solve the problem. No!

Can someone make some sense of this? I don't understand where this country is headed. There seems to be no logic in the state of things. πŸ˜•

reply

The thing I have a problem with the right is that they want to go back to the old ways which marginalized a group of people and did more harm than good even though it cracked down on crime it also falsely accused many POC wrongly.

reply

Conservatives seem to be under the impression that "wokes and libs" want to disband the police and make everything legal , or let people commit any crime with no punishment , which is the same thing .

newsflash: clearly this is not the case
which examples of "soft on crime" are you talking about?

reply

First of all, I do not identity as a conservative; I identity as a person with logic and common sense.

let people commit any crime with no punishment

But, isn't that what's happening in your mostly democratic cities?

NYC is a mess. The homeless have taken over San Francisco and are defecating in the streets.

No consequences, no incentive to reform.

This is quality of life? πŸ™„

Crime has gone up since arrests and prosecutions are down.

I know someone who fled Seattle because of robberies that aren't being prosecuted. This guy is on the Left but says to me, "All politics are local" and he couldn't take it. He was actually told by the city they can't do anything about it. Also talked about seeing people defecate in the street. Now he and his wife are staying at their beach house further north, he says he's moved in there for good.

I am not a lawyer and am not privy to exact cases.

But, you hear everyday on the news that progressive judges and DA's are giving people a slap on the wrist for punishment. Then the Perps go out, commit the same crimes and worse. Recidivism! Crime is real; it's not "fake news."

This affects us all. When Crime comes to your neighborhood, they're not going to ask if you are Black, White, Lib or Conservative.

Just hold on to your BUTT! 😲

reply

That happens in virtually all countries wether the left or the right is at the reigns
Its a question of resources.

You cant simply lock people up for years for minor shit,
Although USA is having a good go at , getting the record for "Highest proportion of the population incarcerated"

it doesent seem to be the answer though does it?

reply

STUPID COMMENT SINCE IT IS ALL OF US NON WOKE LIBS WHO HAVE ALL THE GUNS AND PREFER MOVING TARGETS.

Speak for yourself, Ass Hole. πŸ™„

I don't think anyone wants to be soft on crime, it's just that the current consequences are not leading to reform - have they ever? I don't know what we should do instead, but we definitely need to figure out another way to punish criminals because the current system doesn't work.

If anything, I'd say loads of people would love certain crimes to be taken more seriously and punished more severely. Rape, for example. I don't feel great knowing someone like Brock Turner is out in the world after receiving a very lenient 6 month sentence after raping an unconscious woman, of which he only served 3 months. Like I said, the system doesn't work in favour of the people it's supposed to protect.

Also, let's be honest, many police officers are criminals as well and are protected by the law that seeks to punish them. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure some are amazing. But we all know that not all of them are; in fact, many abuse their jobs and the power that comes with it. Again, look at sexual misconduct and any police department in the world and you'll see this misuse of power in spaces. Example: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/almost-2000-police-workers-accused-25182507 There are so many others.

This is exactly why it wasn't a serious question in the first place. The premise is dishonest, the name calling is baiting and misleading, it's just a stupid exercise where the OP thinks they've found an angle to annoy smart people and gull the compatriots into crowing along. Just like "defund the police." Idiots inflate it to mean all kinds of idiocy that no person takes seriously, but opportunists pound on it like it's a policy statement from on high.

reply

Another lying Lib.
The question was serious and you don't have an answer. Libs love chaos and unrest. They use them to manipulate and control people.

reply

I don't know if you're replying to me or snepts, but either way, your reply just seems like empty misdirection. You didn't address anything pointed out by either of us, which is fine, then don't reply. You're clearly just baiting people so you can talk over them to shit on "wokes and libs" of which I am neither and, really, what exactly are the wokes and libs doing that is chaotic and unrestful? Because you didn't make that clear. Nothing stated by either of us seems to have anything to do with what you're talking about.

reply

(My reply was to snepts.)

what exactly are the wokes and libs doing that is chaotic and unrestful?

A couple of summers ago, cities, police stations BURNED, city blocks were taken over for "the summer of love." Property was destroyed (in the millions) and people were injured or died.

The woke crowd and the press condoned this as "mostly peaceful." At the time, they hoped to turn it around as "Trump's America," to make him look bad.

How can you deny what is so plain to clear-thinking people?

The woke crowd loves dividing us.

reply

I'm not denying or confirming anything because I'm not American and I honestly don't know what's going on in your country all the time. If anyone committed a crime, of course they should be tried and punished accordingly. But nothing of this was brought up in the OP and I can't speak to an issue that I've no deep knowledge of.

What I do know is that the police themselves are often responsible for theft, violence, property damage, etc and the law does not work against them, it works for them. We don't live in a fair society, and the punishment for crimes does not work to rehabilitate or end recidivism, so it doesn't necessarily make a difference anyway.
