The U.S. is ready to deploy more force in Iraq if needed to defend or prevent more attacks by Iranian-backed militias, Pentagon leaders warned Thursday.

“We are prepared to exercise self-defense, and we are prepared to deter further bad behavior from these groups, all of which are sponsored and directed and resourced by Iran,” Defense Secretary Mark Esper told reporters Thursday.

Any further attacks on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad would be met with a “buzz saw,” General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff added in a briefing at the Pentagon.

This is a pretty pointless comment. 750 more soldiers in Iraq will not make a difference, and what if Iraq simply asks America to get out? Iran can just make the Straits of Hormuz questionable for tanker traffic and the price of oil will shoot up to over $5/gallon or more right away. Western economies will tumble, until stability can be maintained, and that might not be so easy. Even if we go to war with Iran they can cause all kinds of trouble and uncertainty. We should have taken care of Iran a long time ago. Every year that goes by the costs go up, and the probability of a quick victory goes down.

Pulling out of any of these areas is not a good idea. The US has relied on military presence for so long, and Trump has decimated the State Dept. to the point that we have nothing else in our toolkit. We don't need to exercise it, but keeping our military presence around the world until we know better how to proceed in a different way makes sense. We have nothing like China's Belt and Roads initiative, and that says a lot.

That fat fck is merely trying to manufacture another war so as to deter public attention from impeachment. He also needs it to get a possible channel going for an excuse to suspend the 2020 elections "due to a grave crisis".
