japanese anime is different because its meant to be like that, but japanese cinema is not like that at all. anime japanese and real japanese are very different and it looks like most japanese film lean more towards real japanese and subtle acting
while in squid game they basically have this very soap-opera trash overacting in every dialouge, not everyone. there are characters who talk normally. but there characters who just overacts repedetly and its intentional and annoying.
i would give them credit that at least in episode 1 of season 2 they calmed down the actors a bit, they talk a little bit more normal. but then there are those who work for the protaganist searching for that guy who still acts like that
