That's true today, but long ago it was more common. Indigenous groups still do a lot of it. We have hygiene, medicine, and clean water. This is a huge advantage.

It's been done by multiple cultures for a few millennia. We have the modern convenience of hygiene, medicine, and clean water. For times when that wasn't always possible, you would see some groups using circumcision as a means to counter infections that grew in those environments.
