People hallcucinate all the time in movies. Usually it's because a demon is manipulating them, but dehydration and panic work too.

They could probably have left off the first fifteen minutes and made it a better movie. They wouldn't have even needed to hire actors to play the husband and father.

Just try watching all the Youtube videos of people doing it for real. I subscribe to a channel where a guy climbed cranes until Youtube temporarily demonitized him for encouraging dangerous behavior. A lot of people assumed he had died when all his videos disappeared. The videos are back up but he hasn't put any fresh climbing videos other than stufff he had previously deleted.
