FLOP FLOP FLOP BOMB FLOP BOMB but Scorsese fanboys are coming in with their delusions in 3...2....1......
Theatrically it is a bomb, this is Scorsese's fourth bomb in a row. It needs about 400 million more to be deemed somewhat of a success but apparently this is the only film that can never be labelled a bomb, if this were any other film by any other director it would be labeled a bomb.
Delusionally, in the minds of avid Scorsese defenders, this movie is "not" a bomb and doing horribly at the box office was all part of Apple's genius plan to gamble 200 million for the possibility of some Oscar noms because this will garner Apple billions of subscribers and make its 400 million dollars back magically through the sheer "prestige" of Martin Scorsese!!!!! Everyone who unsubscribed due to the price hike of their Apple TV subscription will have no choice but to resubscribe and be happy to pay double for this MAGICAL PRESTIGE.
Apple has somehow the secret recipe to make their streaming profitable that others haven't figured out yet, successfully turning a low grossing movie in BO from a profitable streaming phenomenon because it has the Apple logo stuck onto it, which again no other movie has managed to achieve yet. And anyone who defies this notion will feel the wrath of his PRESTIGIOUS MINIONS!!!!
Anyway did i mention how disney is a bad boy for throwing all these shitty high budget flops at us lately? It's too bad they didn't learn to lose money with style like Apple, ALL OTHER STREAMERS SUCK3497507243 ONLY APPLE PREVAILZ BECAUSE THEY PAID MARTY. I'm surprised Marty fanboys don't attack Netflix, who shut their wallet to Scorsese after the box office disaster of The Irishman. Netflix denied their Lord Scorsese. Selective memory.
And Netflix shut their wallet to him after the disastrous box office of the Irishman. Scorsese then finessed Apple and hogged 200 million to make 1 movie when Apple could've spent that on 10-20 indie films and given others a chance to express themselves.
Scorsese: Why is nobody else making CINEMA ART masterpieces the way I am? Does no one care about CINEMA ART as much as I do??
Also Scorsese: *turns around* I need 200 million dollars mINIMUM for my ARTWORK
The artwork: over 3 hours of DiCaprio making this face ---> :(
EPIC bomb!!!!!!!! Audience attendance has dropped 60-70% from the embarrassing opening weekend, word of mouth is terrible on this one. Ignore the excuses Scorsese fans make, this film is actively being avoided at the movie theatre.
De Niro was much scarier with his gentleman facade hiding the devil underneath. Leo was just his henchman.
Incoming news headline: "Marty and Thelma disable Apple TV's pause button to preserve CINEMAtic experience in pleb's living rooms"
It's all part of Apple TV's GENIUS 20 year plan everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bad audio mixing leading to low dialogue volume + bad accents + actors mumbling thinking this makes their performance more ~mysterious + loud snoring heard in the audience + scenes with no subtitles that should've had subtitles + muffled Taylor Swift music playing through the theatre wall = bad combo
The Irishman.
Honestly defending the budget by saying the "prestige" of the film is worth the 200M and Apple is thrilled about it because they have endless money makes no sense when they just increased the price of their subscription. Prestige not really quantifiable AND I honestly don't see a lot of people rushing to subscribe to Apple TV.
I also think the film bombed in terms of expectations. It simply did not meet the expectations of the producers nor the audience. Scorsese clearly wanted to appear very self important with this film, yet audiences cut through his BS by patronizing what they wanted to see and experience at the movie theatre. His "what is and is not cinema" argument bombed with the audience reaction this time around.
It's worth noting that even if we excuse the poor box office because "it's made by Apple" (despite also receiving a full scale theatrical release), it's difficult to see the film generating enough revenue to justify a $200M budget. Apple TV+ doesn't have a particularly high number of subscribers (they won't even officially reveal it, but 3rd party estimates put it at 25M), and it's unreasonable to expect an individual film to single handedly bring in a ton of new subs (and even more so for those subs to stick around even if they sign up to watch the film).
We will have some viewership estimates from Nielsen, but I have a feeling those numbers are gonna be embarrassing too. It remains to be seen what happens once this film hits streaming.
Ok, thanks for the reply. Apple can judge it however they want to. I judge it as a bomb, not only financially, but also based on the fact that it did not live up to the hype. As a glorified ad for Apple TV+ we'll see how it fares after the price increase for the subscription has already put people off. And I think box office numbers are showing that people are still willing to go to the theatre and watch movies (contrary to the excuses defenders come up with for the dismal box office performance)... they're just... not going to this one....
"Magical Apple... save us... everyone is cancelling their subscription to Apple TV after the announcement of the price hike... Magical Apple... When Magical Killers of the Flower Moon releases on Apple TV, billions of subscribers will flock in... this is what we wish for Magical Apple TV+. Shun Netflix who shut their wallet to the great Scorsese. Don't let Magical Apple do the same. Magical Apple is the ultimate streaming service that has everything figured out, we will hang onto this belief until the bitter end. Amen" - Scorsese fans praying for their lives!!!!!
Mmmm right money means so little to them that's why they bumped up the cost of the subscription to Apple TV to hand the bill for this nuclear bomb onto the consumer. To which most people have responded by cancelling their subscription... all part of Apple's genius plan for streaming dominance!!! But we'll see, maybe KOTFM can win Apple TV billions of subscribers and billions of dollars and everything will be all right in the end and Marty can demand 400 million for his next film :D :D :D who's gonna pay up???
Marty and Thelma are out here talking like they have perfect control over their bladders when it's a fact that, as you get up there in age, the bladder becomes less controllable. Don't know why Mr. "I love movies" is so against intermissions, a natural component of longer films and theatre plays. Apparently audiences must sit in discomfort to witness a 5th insulin shot and 1000th instance of DiCaprio making this face>:( otherwise we are plebs who do not appreciate ART.
And Marty fell asleep during his own movie as shown by the fact that he allowed those Brendan Fraser scenes to remain in the Final Cut.
It is a nuclear sized bomb certified handsome devil of a flop and audiences are expected to make up for the over the top 200 million dollar budget by paying double for Apple TV+. Thanks Marty!!
