Well, some people around here arguably use up too much oxygen...
But you're not one of them hownos.
That isn't the point.
I'm not trying to push boys to wear skirts, but, honestly, what harm does it do...UNLESS they're being bullied for wearing dresses?
You seem to be wishing the very thing that is really the ONLY reason against boys wearing dresses.
It's akin to wishing a drunk driver will crash and kill themselves, simply to prove that drink-driving is wrong.
In theory, you're right.
In practice, that is not, alas the REAL world, and however much it might be a great ideal to strive for, we should be cautious of treating our own children like experiments in the damn 'culture wars'.
The individual dignity of each child is far more important than ANY ideology.
PEOPLE >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> POLITICS
Two wrongs don't make a right.
I think Megan Fox is an irresponsible parent, but that's ONLY because she's putting her children in a position where they're likely to be bullied.
She's not the source of the problem. The bullies are. But she appears to be wilfully stupid and naive by placing her child in this situation, since anyone with half a brain could foresee this shit happening.
Sometimes you have to be patient with the world and wait for it to catch up with you.
Also, I find it hard to believe that her children were choosing to dress up this way from two years of age, and whilst I theoretically agree with the idea that clothes should be gender-neutral, and we should avoid attaching labels to our kids, it's also a form of ABUSE to treat our children like ideological experiments in the 'culture wars'.
That applies just as much to right-wing/conservative parents who bully, mock and ostracise kids who don't conform to their more traditional ideologies and norms.
Kids are NOT lab rats, and however well-meaning one may be, the individual rights and dignity of each child must take overall precedence above any agenda or ideology.
What's so good about a child being bullied?
Yeah POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
We're gonna smash the system! How, you ask? By demanding more young attractive actresses take their clothes off! What righteous feminists we are!
Lawrence strikes me as one of those Hollywood morons who have no real interest in politics (unlike, say, Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon), and just say whatever crap they think they should say in order to align with the *supposedly* 'liberal' Hollywood consensus.
It reminds me of when Cameron Diaz, another dum-dum, said that George W. Bush would 'legalise rape'...
I mean, I despise both Trump and Dubya, and everything they stand for politically, but one can always tell the difference between a *genuine* progressive liberal, and a try-too-hard himbo/bimbo who usually comes from a conservative well-to-do family (as J-Law does), didn't attend college, and comes out with utterly stupid nonsensical 'leftist' statements that actually have the effect of making GENUINE and INTELLIGENT leftists look bad.
My message to any HIMBO/BIMBO who thinks they're being allies when it comes to progressive politics. SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LET THOSE OF US WITH HALF A BRAIN-CELL DO THE FUCKING TALKING! ðŸ˜
Cool. So we're in agreement then!
That comment seems a bit uncalled for.
Plus, I was trying to keep this thread active. I hate to see lonely single-post threads...
Another mother! fan!!! 🎉
And I agree with respect to Solaris and The Turning, although I maintain that The Box started off well, and its production values were really strong (great period detail/production design and cinematography), but the story devolved into an incoherent mess, and left a nasty taste in one's mouth, with the newly blind kid flailing around in the bathroom whilst his parents were dead (at least I think that's how it ended...)
Exactly!
No doubt someone will deride us as 'misogynists' but it's not that a I disagree with what she stands for (politically/ideologically-speaking). I don't.
It's the crass and heavy-handed way she's trying to crowbar her agenda into much-beloved IPs. She's putting her own politics and agenda ahead of her professional responsibility to the artistic integrity of these IPs, and that strikes me as rather selfish and narcissistic. If there's a decent way she can subtly implement her beliefs and ideals into these franchises, go for it, but it should NEVER be at the expense of the overall artistic integrity, quality and entertainment value of the IP at hand.
What's a power washer?
100% agreed with respect to everything you say about Solaris and mother!
I haven't seen In the Cut, but it's a Jane Campion film, so I expect it must have at least *some* merit.
I've heard mixed things about The Wicker Man remake, but that some people derive entertainment from it as a 'cult' or 'so-bad-it's-good' type of 'classic'.
But, alas, no-one can forget that R Kelly performs the theme song to this movie...
What does that make Wednesday? 'Wieners and Wieners Day'?
BUMP
Happy Juneteenth!
An intelligent, practical, tasteful, competent, down-to-earth, generally well-liked DULLARD who is only marginally more imaginative than the other DULLARDS who answered with "Breaking Bad."
It's akin to saying "My favourite band is The Beatles," or "My favourite film is The Godfather." *yawn* 🥱
I don't know. Am I?
